Now Al is nothing more than a soulless robot, under the remote control of signals sent by Ronald Reagan's disembodied brain, which is kept alive in a secret bunker at Area 51.
(end sarcasm...)
Amen, and amen, and amen. When we lost the election, it seems like a lot of folks around here lost their grip. There really isn't any evidence of electoral fraud on a massive scale. There's some suspicious stuff, yes, but nothing that is going to account for 130,000 votes in Ohio and 3.5 million votes nationally. Rather than admit the painful truth that we suffered a narrow defeat despite our best efforts, I see people buying into all kinds of conspiratorial bullshit and lumping everyone who disagrees with them in with the conspirators.
Folks, Al Franken is not a Republican sleeper agent. He just doesn't see convincing evidence that the election was stolen and doesn't want to blow his credibility saying that it was. Furthermore, John Kerry is not a Republican sleeper agent either; he ran the best campaign he could, but in the end too many people thought only Bush could save the nation from the Terraist Evildoers. Oh, and Kerry didn't rig the primary in order to steal it from Dean, either. Have I missed anything?
We are most certainly not going to shift public opinion to our side if we aren't grounded in REALITY. That means accepting certain truths, whether they're pleasant or painful. That also means accepting that we don't all march in lockstep and that there's room for disagreement even among committed, sincere progressives.
