It will be Dean, Kerry, Clark, and Edwards from here on out.
Frankly, I think the rest should bow out gracefully if they do not place well or don't show promise in future states. At some point, we need some focus. The Primary season has resembled a nine ring circus for far too long. Folks that can't win should give a nice speech and endorse/campaign for someone if they want to retaina voice.
Egos need to be put aside for the ultimate goal. We need strength, reason, and solidarity.
Dean will go the distance no matter what -- he's got the money and polls well past NH. This is really going to come down to who the party rallies around to oppose and end Dean's run. It could be Kerry, Clark, or Edwards. I cannot predict who it will be but I'd be damned if I didn't like all three (and I do). Ultimately when it is down to Dean vs. the non-Dean, I think Dean will lose. If I was pressed to guess, I think it will be Clark or Kerry (if Kerry gets enough mo' from IA and NH -- right now he's not polling so well post NH). But, Kerry has proven that he can connect (even if at the 11th hour). I'd love to have 100% surity about Clark, but all I can say is that we Dems are a fickle bunch and there is a lot of anti-Military sentiment in the party. Both of those things we need to fix for long term success. Edwards is the embodiment of the "middle class" values that the Dem party is all about. He's also a good speaker, good looking, fresh, and likeable. You just can't count him out.
I gotta thank Dean for getting us to yell at Bush but I think that would've happened anyways. The time was ripe for it. But I, like many, don't give two hoots about the IWR vote. What matters is who has the character, courage, and skills to lead us from here on out. Clark and Kerry have my vote.
