What Do You Think of Evan Bayh for 2008?
I'm suprise that given his progile not too many seem to think he's the best the democratic party has now for 2008. He was a very popular 2 term governor of a hard red state (Indiana), now a 2 term senator from Indiana and has won all his last 4 elections by ovre 30% margins. He fiscal record in Indiana was one of the best in the country during his tenure. Any comments?

21. You mean he's a moderate who might win red states?
Well we certainly don't want someone like that! We'd be much better off with a far-left liberal from Vermont who can't control his temper on live television. </sarcasm>

3. Not much
Get it through your heads, people, conservative, business as usual DLC Democrats are not going to win!

This country is going to be a wreck by 2008 if Bush's first four years are a good predictor of his second. We're going to need somebody who is willing to make the hard choices, protect the working class, and go after the thieves. A conservative Democrat is not going to do any of it.

9. When Was the last time we had a progressive democrat in the white house???
Republicans have controlled the white house for 28 of the last 36 years. The have complete power in their hands in DC and even the supreme court is theirs. If you think moderates and independents in these red states would be voting for a Howard dean or Denise Kucinich then get ready for a permenent minority status as democrats. It would never happen. I'd rather see a conservative democrat in the white house than a republican. Evan Bayh will win in IN, MO, OH, WI and IA. Plus all the blue states.

10. We have been under the bootheel of the GOP for most of the
past three decades precisely because the DLC keeps running these dreary conservative wonks instead of running men who would address working class economic issues, wealth concentration, unfair tax burdens and a host of other issues that are affecting the majority of people in this country. Economic justice should be as popular a platform as voting for Armageddon!

What the Democratic Party has been doing since 1968 simply does not work. They got lucky with the charismatic Clinton, but his coattails weren't big enough to sweep "more of the same" Gore into office.

No, we're done with these conservatives. If the Democrats run another one of them in 2008, they can kiss my vote goodbye.

11. ??
You say they got lucky with Clinton, so why has the progressive not been lucky with a single person since 1068. Americans are not idiots. Most americans are moderates and do not want progressives or neocons. You suggest centrist democrats cannot address working class economic issues. Well???? HEllo!!! Have you heared of Bill Clinton?

4. I would plug my nose. He's not his father and
like the other poster said, he's a member of the DLC. He HAS voted for us for some things like pro-choice issues and things like that but I don't like that he supports the Iraq war so much--just like Kerry, Clinton & Edwards do.

8. I think he'd be good working digging in a ditch in Indiana.
He's a worthless fuck, and I lived in Indiana for four years.

Guess what, Indiana is a "Red" state through and through. He's a Republican in Dem's clothing.

Why not run Zell Miller or Harry Reid??? (Oh, wait, the DLC is propping the latter up for minority leader, fuck, looks like we're screwed again.)

17. No
The last two elections have proven Democrats do not win elections being Republican-lite.

18. It is absurd the way the DLC is re-writing history to say that.....
this election was run as a liberal campaign. They got the strategy they wanted this year....with noticeably disasterous results.
