Reality Bite: We need to lobby for our own paperless computerized voting machines to be used across this country.

This is, sort of, a spoof.

1. No good can come of privatizing the vote
and I don't just say that because repubs currently own them. With privatization there is no oversight and they have shown by their refusal to release the code that they cannot be trusted. The more that comes out about the owners of Diebold and ES&S, the more I'm sure that their agenda is not to ensure the people's voices be heard.

The votes belong to us, they should be counted by we the people.

2. I totally agree. But HOW are we going to get our votes counted?
Dems rolled over on the use of these hideous machines. Now, I fear the fix is permanently in.

3. It's pretty clear that the Dem leadership doesn't give a flip
about guaranteeing the integrity of the vote count. Even if they did, it's a catch-22, because there would probably need to be a vote on changing the voting/counting system, and since republicans are currently doing most of the counting, we all know how that vote would turn out.

4. Unfortunately, I tend to agree with everything you said.
The time to block Diebold hell was after 2000, when alarm bells were ringing about these machines.

Welcome to DU KnowerOfLogic! :hi:

6. The apparatus must be nationalized,

The software must be open. The rules & requirements must be standardized. We have nothing if we don't have the vote.

on edit: Not all Repubicans are cheaters. I don't believe that MOST Repubicans are cheaters. I believe that thinking Republicans will recognize that a suspect system can bite THEM in the ass too.
