Poll question: What will be the eventual fate of Karl Rove?
Given the thread about Karl Rove's personal life and the gushing of scary right-wing pundits about the "genius" of Karl Rove in having smeared and finagled his way through another election season, I thought I would ask for some input on what will become of the creature ("Man" seems too noble a term). Will he fade away? Will he help Schwarzenegger in his political career? Will he be this era's Joe McCarthy? Will he get bored and try to get hired by the Dems?

What do you think, DU?

4. He's been doing a lot of the talking head circuit.
I suspect he'll end up like David Gergen or Dick Morris when Bush is done. He's been to the top, what more is there, going back to Texas and running dirty tricks in House campaigns?

Not that it will matter much if they get five more senate seats in 2006.

Then it will be absolutely impossible to get rid of the fascist without an all out civil war.

12. My best guess is something embarrassing, or total obscurity.
The 'embarrassing' guess I suppose comes from my feelings about 'instant karma'--what goes around may well just come around, and if there's anything weird to find out about him, I'm sure somebody's looking. And it does seem that your 'tightly wrapped', in-control people are usually the ones with the peculiar peccadillos underneath. But if there really truly is nothing even amusing in his closet, then my prediction would be burn-out and obscurity. Although useful, I wonder how much trust he'll inspire in folks after W.'s 2nd term is over. He's a behind the scenes type, and in the absence of access, he'd do a fade-out.

As far as I'm concerned, that was an act of God. Or his mind realized what an evil shithead he was and turned on him. Either way, it couldn't come too soon.

17. I always wondered how sincere that was.
Do you recommend any articles/books describing that? (Yeah, I'm in a rather dark mood). I seem to recall they actually had his funeral at Trinity Episcopal in Columbia, South Carolina. I'd been to that church many times, and I struck me as vaguely blasphemous that someone like Atwater had his funeral in the place.

25. I'm sure Lee was sincere about that (for the first and last time.....
...in his life)

He knew he was going to Hell for all the hatred he was spreading and it's effect on American politics. Hell, his playbook was used more THIS year than it was when he was alive. Even in state races around here.

So yeah, I believe Lee was genuinely concerned about eternity in a very warm climate. Whether his defense played well to the Higher Court isn't my place to say O8)

19. If a just and merciful God is ruling over an ordered universe,
Rove will be caught groping a Cub Scout in a public rest room and will end up in prison, carefully avoiding dropping the soap. However, because the Nov. 2 election proved that there is no God and the universe is random and cruel, Rove will suffer no indignity, and will continue to flare up periodically like a case of herpes.

35. A sudden noise from his study.
where he is sitting alone, and his wife walks in and finds him dead.

After all is revealed, and he's still active politically, that's what I think he'll do. He's the arrogant sort, who cannot stand being found out - of being put on trial.

I'd rather he was put on trial and sentenced, and forced to do time. He would start lobbying for prison reform pretty soon.

38. He will eventually be convicted in Plamegate AND
Votergate, and be sentenced to life in a maximum security federal prison where new Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has authorized the use of torture on political criminals.

When the guards aren't torturing him a la Abu Ghraib, the other prisoners "fuck him, fuck him again, fuck him hard, fuck him til he bleeds", while chanting "Turd Blossom, Turd Blossom, wontcha bloom for us, Turd Blossom?"

His hate will grow until it consumes every cell in his body like a cancer--brain cancer, just like his former mentor the late Lee Atwater. But the guards will conveniently fail to provide medical attention or pain medication.

While Rove is dying a horrible death in the federal pen, his wife and son will spend the rest of their lives trying to rectify the savagery Karl has wrought on the U.S. and the world. Wife Darby will be instrumental in passing a constitutional amendment protecting gays and lesbians, and will eventually marry another woman. Son Andrew will use his father's wealth to start a nonprofit that focuses on the needs of people (Americans, Iraqis, and others) who suffered on account of the frivolous WMD war in Iraq.

When Karl, the Anti-Christ, finally dies, the Messiah will return and the Earth will know 1000 years of peace.

Everyone will lead happy, healthy, peaceful, and productive lives in an environment free of corruption.

(I can dream, can't I?)

just as it did on his mentor, Lee Atwater.

My personal Karma-call wish for Karl?

Paramedics are called to a nondescript Georgetown address where they will find Karl in the company of two or three underage twinks (black? brown?) and in desperate need of removal of a GW-shaped buttplug that has lodged painfully in his ass.

And, oh yeah, one of the twinks has a digitial camera and is in an entrepreneural mood. ;)
