Can Edwards run for Attorney General in North Carolina?
Edited on Tue Nov-09-04 12:43 AM by Tweedtheatre
Would this be a 'step down' for him? I don't see how he wouldn't get elected to that position if he wanted to run though. The nation favors Democrats in the AG spot (or perhaps we just have better lawyers). We have 31 AGS nationwide while being down on Governors 29-21. When does North Carolina elect their AG?

2. Edited the title: AG= Attorney General
Sorry, I just put together a list of all the Attorney Generals. I guess I got too familiar with the abbreviation.

3. Attorney General.
You know, like John Ashcroft, but on the state level.

5. Our current Governor of NC (Dem) was the AG for a while.

.
Mike Easely won his 2nd term as Governor handily and beat a scary fundie Jeb Bush look-alike. I expect Gov. Easely has his sites set on maybe a run for US Senate at some point. He is fairly young--maybe Edwards' age.

Don't know if Edwards would want to come back and work on the state level. On the other hand, his family just purchased a nice chunk of land outside Chapel Hill NC.

Whatever Edwards and his family choose to do, this North Carolinian is behind them all the way!

6. Thanks for the info
I had forgotten that Easely was just re-elected. You guys vote for all of the Executives Officers at once I'm guessing. So that means that Edwards wouldn't be able to run for another 4 years? It would seem odd him going from VP candidate to AG at a state level, but I couldn't see him losing now that he has had national exposure.
