Why I fear for the future of the Party
I don't think we have lost our soul
I Don't think we have lost our way.
I don't think we have a coherent message.
I think we are out numbered and out-organized.

I think we lost because there are more conservatives then liberals in this country and there is not enough in what we say to attract and inspire the middle.

In the absence of inspiring the middle, the sheep will go with who they know whether he is an idiot or... That is the big takeaway.

The question...the very tough question is how do we motivate the base and yet inspire the middle.

John Kerry pushed all the right buttons called the President incompetent and we still lost.

Its partly the messenger, but it also is the message.

I have looked at the landscape and asked who can lead us now but also inspire the the suburban voter. And I see no one...not a soul who can not be painted as a tax and spend, amoral, liberal who can turn water into wine.

Its got to be a governor, senators don't win. The only one with national stature is Bill Richardson, but he has a Charisma Deficit.

My only solace here is that there is going to a real battle on the GOP side in 4 years between the NEOCONS/Fundies on one side and the Republican "moderate/mavericks" on the other.

I am open to ideas but I just don't know

2. Hah hah Nice to know someone else looks at big picture
I have every confidence we will survive as a nation.

But I think that might be sort of the problem....I don't subscribe to the sky is falling view of the world, I wonder if the middle got somehown turned off by that type of rhetoric.

I am still sort of stunned byt the the reesult in Florida and to some extent OH. Why Did we not attract more elderly and more blue collar workers. does moralism trump competence?

Ig it does then this is not a left right issue at all... Its about who the voter trusts. Did Bush win that battle and if so why?
