To everyone who believes in abandoning the queers!
If you truly believe the Democratic Party needs to abandon its own moral values in order to win elections, then I am sorry to say, but you obviously lost your morality long before Kerry lost the election.

You are the same people who came out against gay marriage before Kerry was even chosen to be the Democratic candidate.

You are the same people who rained on our parade when they announced their decision in the Lawrence V Texas ruling. And again, that was long before Kerry was chosen to be the Democratic candidate.

Every time something big happens for the queer community, you are the same people who jump all over us. This election something big happened for the queer community, only this time it hasn't been in a positive light, because 11 states have chosen to make queers second class citizens in their states, and yet, you still wanna jump all over us. Do you see a pattern here? Because I certainly do.

You are too caught up in our bedrooms and personal lives instead of getting out there and doing the leg work to bring home the next presidential election for the next Democratic Candidate.

When you lose the next one, and your country's constitution has been used to deem a group of people second class citizens, who are you gonna blame then? You certainly can't blame the queers any longer.

Wake up and smell the roses. It is people with these kinds of beliefs that are destroying the Democratic Party from with in. And that dear people is exactly what KKKarl Rove wants you to do.

1. Don't let 'em get to you...I know how hurt you must be from the tone...
of the post. Let me offer a hug instead. I think that many people here are so disappointed with what has happened that they have temporarily lost track of who they area and why they are liberal/progressive. It is in our nature to be more open, tolerant, compassionate and caring than the RWers; that is what makes us who we are. The ones who suggested dumping our gay/lesbian colleagues are either temporarily nuts, or don't belong here in the first place.
I cannot and would not pretend to speak for everyone here, but I will say this, when I have been near the end of my rope, it has largely been here that I got some comfort. People here are not ashamed when a (supposedly) grown man admits being in tears. There is a great deal of confusion on the boards right now. Having said that, it does noone any good to 'fear bite' those to whom we are the closest (at least in an electronic sort of way).
Be proud of who you are, I am sure that the invisible cloud being (being facetious, at the risk of being labelled a fundy, which I am not) knew exactly what he or she was doing in creating gay men and lesbian women. Gay men, much to the surprise of RW men, are not ashamed to be compassionate and to stand against the socially constructed male 'norms', anymore than lesbian women are ashamed to demonstrate their independence and abilities, while maintaining very close and binding relationships. We could all learn from those examples, quite frankly.
Just my two cents worth, nobody asked, but I wanted you to not hurt over some of the careless remarks that have been made around here. Hurry up and get back to Sapphocrat and Godspeed.:hi:

5. Thanks MM...
...Getting back to Sapph is gonna be hard now, with Bush* in for another four years. However, I do have Christmas to look forward to this year. She is coming over for Christmas, thanks to an annoymous benefactor once again.

And now that I am working, I am hoping to see a lot more of her next year.

7. Lonliness sucks big time, and I think that it is exacerbated by...
the international situation. It is one thing to be separated for a finite length of time, but to be separated involuntarily, I can only imagine. There have been many times when I have read both of your posts and had nothing to contribute, not because I didn't want to, but because I felt unable to contribute any hope for the future while * was in office. Allow me to send my warmest best wishes to you both, with hopes that things will improve in the near future. There is so little love and joy in this world, we can't afford to waste any of it.

2. I see some blame different things or people. We are diverse and need
to stand together. We as dems are great because we accept all people no matter what, except evil I hope. It is our strength and it is our weakness. If we don't stop tearing each other apart we lose. We can not get weak in the middle of a fight especially. Stand strong and together.

6. Yep!
And that is what makes the left so unique from the right. It is just a shame that some are willing to throw their own morality away and turn the left into the same as the right.

3. Who rained on Lawrence vs. Texas?
I don't remember that, and I can't think of why they'd do that.

4. LoZ...
...I don't know if the archives are open yet, but when they are, go back through them. You will find a ton of threads with all the same pitiful rhetoric telling us queers how selfish we are that we got the sodomy laws overturned.

9. Our values will kick their values ass!!
So Bring it On!

Survey after survey shows that the American people agree with us on the vast majority of moral issues. We don't have to change anything about our values or our positions on the issues. We just have to learn how to promote them better.
