Kerry $$ Question

Has all the support Kerry has been receiving in Iowa, coupled with two recent NH newspaper endorsements, transated into an increase in donations to his campaign? We all know of him having to pull money from his home in order to continue, but has this recent ground swell of support stopped the bleeding? I haven't heard anything recently about this and am quite curious, since he is my strong #2 choice.

1. No way to know
opensecrets.org doesn't even have last quarters numbers up yet, but contributions that are being given now won't even be reported for a couple months. I think it is going too far also to say Kerry had to pull money from his home 'in order to continue' -- I'd say it's more accurate to say that Kerry was taking no chances that a lack of money would be responsible for his loss. Remember, Kerry IS number 2 in fundraising behind Dean, even without the loans he took out. Number 3 for last quarter though, behind Dean and Clark. But I think it is a pretty safe bet that contributions are way up for both Kerry and Edwards.

3. "In order to continue" = poor choice of words

on my part - should have phrased it better. Thanks for the info - just curious to see if any beltway insiders had been reporting on jumps in Kerry contributions.

straight from someone in the campaign. i was there making some calls yesterday. the better he does in the polls, the more people will believe in him again.

4. From USA Today:
Money and support are streaming in. Last week, as polls showed Kerry gaining, the amount of campaign contributions increased by 40% over the average for December. Only 38 out-of-state volunteers were here late last month. More than 1,000 had arrived by Sunday, double the number the campaign expected

5. What was the December average?
Does it include his mortgage?

Inquiring minds...
