And I've never really been a huge fan of the man, even felt that I was compromising in voting for him. At one point I toyed with the idea of going 3d party, since my vote didn't matter anyway. In the end, I stuck with the party thinking that the popular vote might be an issue in this election, as it was in 2000.
But these posts blaming Kerry are BS. Kerry did not lose this race- the evangelicals WON IT! They were motivated (by hate of course). They were coordinated and organized. They worked the grounds and churches like you wouldn't believe. They courted and wooed and persuaded people. They registered new voters. And they voted in record numbers. And they voted republican. Our candidate could have been Jesus H. Christ, and they still would have voted for the "godly" Shrub.
Be angry with Kerry all you want for conceding (perhaps) too early. Give constructive criticism on how we can improve in the future- even improving on extraordinary Dem turnout this year. But don't think for one minute that this loss had anything to do with which candidate we ran. It had everything to do with the Christian/Zionist/Opus Dei/whatever fundies reaching their zenith of power in the repub party- just as the fundies have taken over other countries like Israel and Iran. Religious fundamentalism of all kinds is on the rise worldwide, and we're all going to be suffering for that.
But it still had nothing to do with Kerry.
*puts on flame-retardent suit* :-)
