Give Kerry His Due and Stop The Blaming. It Isn't Going To Win Elections
I think the fact that we came so close makes us lose sight of just how impossible victory seemed a year ago. Bush's victory, to the extent it wasn't stolen, is as close as an incumbant can make it without losing.

An incumbant who is not reelected is a dismal failure.

Forget about the crowing from the right. Their "best" is a piece of sh*t who had to cheat to win a second term. We made 'em nervous. They were shaking in their boots this time yesterday. They know they're vulnerable, and all their shouting and bragging is to hide their insecurity.

What I'm saying is that the country is not lost to the hard right. It's going to be a tough four years, but there's a mid-term election, and my guess is that Bush will alienate 75 percent of the nation by that time. If we can pick up the house and/or senate, or both in '06, Bush will be a two year, lame and sitting duck.

We've got to start building back our base. We have to remake the message to drive a wedge between the corporate criminal and evangelical coalition. That's a shaky coalition. Jesus didn't like the money changers and that marriage will not last forever. We need to put our Karl Rove hats on and start owning some issues that have appeal, now.

1. I like the way you think.
And I keep posting that Bush is facing a Nixon-style mess. They WERE freaking yesterday and squeaked it out with "luck."

You're right, in two years Bush will have fucked up even worse, and we have to focus on the midterms.

"A two year, lame and sitting duck." Let's send him out in style.
