Is anyone watching Meet the Press : Tom Delay is on the attack
This is a good preview of the General Election in my opinion. He smearing democrats as the party of rage, that cannot lead the country in National Security. Its disgusting, but we need to be realistic about how this debate is going to be framed.

31. But posts like yours alienate.
I don't get why you Dean people think that by bashing others' candidates you will get them to enthusiastically support Dean, IF he gets the nomination. Yes, most of us will vote for him, but we may not work for the campaign. That can hurt. Please watch your words. They can be weapons both positive and negative.

13. James Carville had some comments on Dean
Carville was asked if Dean would be a strong nominee. He answered that attacking Bill Clinton wasn't the way to get the nomination. Also that saying that getting Sadaam doesn't make us safer wasn't the most politically astute thing he could have said.

...and that's coming FROM a fanatical Clinton Supporter. He's too close to Hillary to be an honest broker.

Hurts me to say that.

5. ...and what the Pukes are going to be able to get away with.
Tom DeLay obviously has no fear of being struck by lightening for the lies he is propagating:

Saying Clark was relieved of duty for "character reasons", yet Russert won't press him, knowing that Clark will simply call out the sore-loser general who is spreading this maliciousness;

Calling Dean an extremist when he balanced his own state's budget;

Saying Bush's budget deficit isn't the largest in history.

Apparently, truth isn't a requirement for speaking on MTP.

I despise DeLay. I wish the cockroaches would come back and consume him.

8. I believe that comment fully qualifies as slander
Clark should sue. It would give great publicity to Clark and show Delay for what he is.

24. what the hell
is wrong with Tim Russert? He won't press Delay on any of the lies he's spewing. I hate DeLay. He's the biggest liar and most Texans know it they just don't call him on it cause they are on his side.

Guess that explains why Russert sat this one out.

My blood pressure is rising too high for a Sunday morning.

29. I just emailed MTP
My email:

Several months ago, Tim Russert interviewed retired Gen. Wesley Clark on MTP. Russert asked Clark about a comment made by another retired general that Clark had been relieved as Supreme Commander of NATO’s allied forces due to character issues. The general who said that has never explained himself or offered any proof of such a thing. Clark, at that time, invited him to specify what he meant, since Clark had been awarded the Medal of Freedom (as well as many other international awards) for his work at NATO.

Today, Tom DeLay smeared Clark with this unfounded insult. Time Russert would only say that he would ask Clark about it next time he was on, instead of asking DeLay to explain himself for saying such a vicius thing.

I keep thinking Russert has to be smart enough not to have forgotten this conversation with Clark only a few months ago. Russert knew the appropriate response to this nasty accusation, yet he let it stand.

How is the public supposed to have any faith in the objectivity of the “free” media when such bias is apparent?

Thank you for reading my email

10. No but questioned him on lavish
parties for raising money for neglected and abused children. It was brought up by some independent organization but I didn't catch the name. Timmy wasn't too hard on Delay in my opinion, very few follow up questions really.

12. Timmy Russert only asks followup questions of Democrats, treats Rethugs
with kid gloves...another whimpy pundit afraid to question Rethugs, but revels in pressing Democrats with repeated followups of usually inane, gotcha questions.

THE dem nominee will be mocked and ridiculed. ANY dem nominee. Count on it.

The irony is that as they charge Too Shrill or Too Angry, they become increasingly shrill and angry.

17. The budget deficit is Bill Clinton's fault!
Edited on Sun Dec-21-03 10:50 AM by jumptheshadow
Delay mentions Clinton's name multiple times when answering a question about the deficit. Says Clinton should get no credit for the balanced budget.

Dean is "an extreme extremist".

The ground war has begun, folks.

21. Good point
But this has the feel of an opening salvo in the Republican campaign.

Russert reads Clark's quote where he stated he would have had Bin Laden by now. Delay responds: "He was fired because of character issues." (Russert, to his credit, tries to add some context to this slam.)

Dean is "an extreme extremist" (for heaven's sake, where were these people educated), and the Repubs come out against "quackery" from Democrats.

26. Watching Tim Russert smooze
all over Tom DeLay was almost unbearable. Tom Delay is known for spreading his propoganda and lies. He hates the Clintons and he looks for every opportunity to slam them.

Bush is his buddy and he is gonna prop him up as the king who walks on water.

I didn't hear Delay take responsibility for anything that has gone wrong with this country in the past 3 years, but he sure does knock down the good that the Clinton administration. What a total prick.
