Poll question: Do you think we've been hijacked by Christian fundamentalists?
Or do you think there's more to this?

3. Yes

It was posted here on DU a few days ago.

There are two types of bush voters.

1) The very rich

2) The very stupid

I think we've isolated one group.

6. It's time to strip the tax exemption from every right wing Freep "church"
Definitely beginning with the televangelist frauds, every single one of whom aired an hour long Bushnazi campaign ad on their last Sunday edition.

7. Question to all: If we've been hijacked, how do we get it back?
You can't change someone's mind on religion. What do we do to win back our country?

8. Terrorists
THEY (the fundamentalists) are the true terrorists! Shrub was right! THEY do hate US for our freedoms! They hate that gays are allowed to roam freely, African-Americans don't "know their place," and women are independent and can regulate their own bodies. We are heading for a theocracy! Dangerous times are looming for us all!

I wish I could be more positive, but at this point, I am mad as hell!

rant over...for now

9. Interesting conversation with a neighbor
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 09:52 AM by DesertedRose
We are both Christians and we both attend the same church.

We both voted for Kerry.

He is in his 70's. He is convinced that the Christian Right has taken over the GOP. He said in his youth he was republican, but it is not the same party anymore and he couldn't stand Ralph Reed or Jerry Falwell and what groups like the Christian Coalition have done to the republican party and to this country in the name of God.

This from a Christian. He exhibits true Christianity better than anyone I know. Volunteers for 'Habitat' and in the prisons, helping those who can't help themselves. Works with inner city churches. Is respected in the community. Reminds me a lot of Jimmy Carter, who he respects a lot.

We are both frustrated and mad about how fellow parishioners CAN'T SEE WHAT IS GOING ON. We don't know if it's that they CAN'T see or they CHOOSE NOT TO SEE.

On Edit, a separate thought: I do think democrats need to be careful in sending strong anti-Christian messages, because then you risk alienating one of your strongest constitutencies: the black vote. A lot of blacks already feel like the democratic party takes their vote for granted. The black vote and black church involvement is almost inextricably linked.

10. NO!
The election is being stolen! They did not win those votes by pimping religion. They stole them! Blacks in Florida did NOT vote for Bush because of religion. Stop pushing RW talking points.

14. Yes.
Regardless of whether it was hate, fraud, or WoT propaganda that ultimately determined the GOP victory, fundie-Nazis now control the country.

16. I said it last night at 2:00am...
We are witnessing the beginning of a fundamentalist revolution. The revolution is similar to the Islamic revolution that took place in Iran in the '70's. The extreme, ultra-fascist, fundies have taken over, and we can expect that since they have a totalitarian control on all branches of the government, we will be forced to live by their rules and thier laws.

Say good bye to a woman's right to choose, say good bye to your children since they will be sent off to spread christianity/freedom around the world. Say good bye to your privacy, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, etc. And the press is a lost cause.

I say you might as well take advantage of the assault weapons lapse, and hunker in for the long haul.
