Please do me a favor and compare your precinct numbers, 2000-2004.
I just posted something I hope I don't regret later. Here's to regret:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=183&topic_id=714#795

The nutshell is this: turnout this year in heavily Democratic Arlington, VA was huge, by comparison to my own recollection of the 2000 election. Yet when I compare the numbers of two particular precincts, I find that the numbers for one precinct are lower than they were in 2000 by over nine hundred votes. Furthermore, they almost appear to be "lopped off," at 1,500 and 1,901 votes.

That could be a simple coincidence. I need to check to see if a lot of people have moved out of my precinct or if it has been redistricted. Maybe they're not final. But those numbers are... spooky.

I can't work on this much longer. But would someone please post how to check your own precinct results against the 2000 numbers? I would be very interested to see other examples which would suggest this isn't just the unusual coincidence it appears to be.

Why not post them in this thread?

Here are the 2000 and 2004 results for Arlington County:

The precincts I compared were Wilson and Rosslyn.

I'm in West Ffx Cnty, so you know how we typically go. We didn't carry the district for kerry but we performed much better overall than in 2000, closing some serious gaps. Much of that attributed likely to Republicans voting for Kerry and a major GOTV in targeted precincts.

My precinct, Stone, never really deviates much in it 's voting pattern, never goes Dem. Just lost it to Bush by 34 votes. 49/51, vs something more like 42/58 in 2000, off the top of my head.

One small bit of satisfaction, some of the core precincts for rightwing nutjob Ken Cuccinelli in our district, all went for Kerry, including the precinct I saw him at this morning. We didn't come close to this in 2000 with Gore, period. Others predictably went for Bush, some substantial by several hundred, some not by much.

Edit: Can't type, too tired, sorry.
