This is a warning to Freepers About the Next Four Years
I'm depressed. This is not the America I grew up in tonight. This is an America that is racist, homophobic, and xenophobic with a blood lust for war. I have never been so disappointed in my country than before. I am ashamed to call myself an American. That flag that waves above the rampart does not wave for me anymore. It waves for those that thinks that over 1,200 dead soldiers in Iraq is okay, it waves for those that thinks that violation of civil rights is okay, it waves for those that thinks it's okay to break down the wall between separation of church and state, it waves for those that thinks it's okay to deny women access to their own reproductive rights, and it waves for those who so blindly believes in a candidate that has put our country on a path to ruin and disaster.

Do not blame me when the draft comes back in place, do not blame me when more soldiers die on foreign soil, with their blood leaching into the soil, do not blame me when some pharmacist denies you your birth control prescriptions, do not blame me when you find yourself unable to marry the person you love because that person happens to be the same gender as you are, do not blame me when you face increased risks of terror attacks on our country, do not blame me when the rest of the world turns against us, and our economy starts going down the crapper.

Blame those who voted for Bush, and the end of a proud American democracy and the loss of respect in the world.

Those of you who voted for Bush, the next four years will bring more hell and ruin upon this once-great nation.

I have absolved myself from the disaster that is going to follow in a second Bush term because the blood of those who will die in future wars rests upon the hands of those who voted for Bush.

1. Slink, I understand how you feel; I feel it too. But I'm old enough to say
we got through Vietnam and Johnson, we got through Nixon, and we got through Reagan. It won't be easy, but we can get through this, too.

14. At least the blood will not be on our hands.
And remember Bin Laden said our security was in our hands. What little security we had is now gone.

15. They will have to face accountability eventually
We've all seen the Bush admin not take responsibility for what they've wrought. My opinion (especially after tonight) is that the American people agree that's the best path to take. Unfortunately it's not a stable situation. It will bite them in the ass eventually.

I've had the feeling that things will have to get worse before people wake up. This will give them the opportunity. We did all we could think of, and, especially if the popular vote goes Bush's way, we got voted down.

I'll never give in and agree with them. This is not the right direction to go in, and the majority is wrong in this case. Over the next four years, lets remind them of it!

mwalker

P.S. Sorry that this post isn't real coherant. I'm a little unhappy right now as are we all I'm sure. Hopefully I can flesh out some budding ideas in the next weeks and present them in more concrete form.

19. Hear ya.
Sorry it went this way. But I think we must wait for Kerry to concede before we write the epitaph.

I love everything you wrote.

I'm thinking about the primaries and how exciting that time was. It was awesome. I'm thinking about how the next four years will be if Bush is inaugurated. I'm thinking we need to fight harder and get meaner. I'm not givin up damnit.
