2. I'm with ya!
I think maybe some people haven't watched elections this closely before and didn't know what to expect. I understand why they're nervous. I mean, it is very importand and * winning is VERY scary. But, we all do need to take a deep breath, come back to reality, and admit that we're going to have a long wait tonight.

5. There are states that we CEDE to Bush.
Some people don't seem to understand that.

Maybe the types that have been relying on those states for themselves on other boards, you think?

They're showing it to mock us. They're trying to make us too beaten down to berate them for licking his ass for 4 years.

Tomorrow when Kerry wins we're gonna get up and START ORGANIZING OUR MEDIA REFORM!

13. Bush taking the South is no surprise.
I am not at all surprised by this and nobody else should either. It is too right-wing and too conservative down there. Which is too bad.

17. correct! all those Southeastern states report very EARLY...
The polls close before 8PM in a lot of them. In fact, the election wraps up earliest in two repug states (Indiana and Kentucky). Add to this the fact that many of them are in the Eastern timezone, and you have an automatic "early lead" for the GOP. Every prediction of this election has already taken this phenomenon into account.

It's a similar deal with Florida. A whole slew of relatively small repug counties are able to start reporting their totals early, because they have fewer votes to count. For instance, at this moment, the State of Florida election website says that none of Miami-Dade County's votes are in the totals yet. And Miami-Dade (like Broward and Palm Beach Counties) are the big story because of their big population.

And, remember: the really huge electoral prizes are places like California, which alone has 55 electoral votes -- all of them added to the national totals very late in the contest.
