My last post until after the election
Well, brothers and sisters, this is it. I'm going to be an Election Judge all day tomorrow and then will attend a Democratic Victory (I hope) party afterward. I wanted to say see ya and to give a brief thanks, but...

Sigh. Where to begin? I came here in 2001 and I swear if it had not been for this place I would have given up hope so long ago.

9/11
Wellstone
2002
Invasion of Iraq
So many other things...

It's hard to believe what we've all been through in these four brief years.

Thank you, DU. You've kept me informed in an era where ignorance is considered strength. You've given me hope when all seemed lost. You've given me lots of laughs in a humorless time. You've kept ringing the bells of liberty and justice in a land darkened by self deception, fear, and complacency.

Let's keep ringing those bells tomorrow, as Bob Dylan once sang:

Ring them bells, ye heathen
From the city that dreams,
Ring them bells from the sanctuaries
Cross the valleys and streams,
For they're deep and they're wide
And the world's on its side
And time is running backwards
And so is the bride.

Ring them bells St. Peter
Where the four winds blow,
Ring them bells with an iron hand
So the people will know.
Oh it's rush hour now
On the wheel and the plow
And the sun is going down
Upon the sacred cow.

Ring them bells Sweet Martha,
For the poor man's son,
Ring them bells so the world will know
That God is one.
Oh the shepherd is asleep
Where the willows weep
And the mountains are filled
With lost sheep.

Ring them bells for the blind and the deaf,
Ring them bells for all of us who are left,
Ring them bells for the chosen few
Who will judge the many when the game is through.
Ring them bells, for the time that flies,
For the child that cries
When innocence dies.

Ring them bells St. Catherine
From the top of the room,
Ring them from the fortress
For the lilies that bloom.
Oh the lines are long
And the fighting is strong
And they're breaking down the distance
Between right and wrong.

See you soon, DU. When I do, let's hope we're all shaking our virtual asses like they did in the streets on V-J Day.

10. I love the way that sounds.
Perhaps as much I like ex-President and Convicted Felon George W. Bush.

11. Bells...
Trying to arrange, but it won't be tommorow, some bellringing. There is a method (think tune) called "Kerry Surprise" for eight bells. Will try it at practice tonight... (The group I teach, rings the bells at Old North Church). See http://www.NAGCR.org/pamphlet.html for an explanation of the lunacy
