Hypothesis: Minn/St. Paul, Philadelphia under threat of "Imminent Attack"
What if, tomorrow at 6AM Eastern, Ridge goes on TV and says they have credible evidence that Minneapolis/St. Paul and Philadelphia WILL BE attacked during polling hours?

Sure, everyone would know it was BS, Democrats would scream bloody murder. But might they do this? Might they choose to deal with the consequences of the bold-faced lie later, in hopes that they could swing MN and/or PA to the Republicans? The rural areas come out to vote, while the liberal-leaning cities stay indoors, afraid to vote, that sort of thing.

It's a wild scenario, granted. But would a desperate Rove do such a thing? Would it work? Is there any chance the election would be invalidated due to such a thing?

They know they have nothing to lose. They can't shred everything before they leave office. How far would they go?

1. We fight to the end, this stops here, no more lies!
I swear on my life that we won't let this one go. Just get to the polls early, stay orderly and focused, everyone should be able to vote.

2. Then I'll be standing in line
in Minneapolis with my duct tape and plastic!

I remember a few months ago someone wondered about a CA attack alert. Red alert in CA would close all polls after work hours which would favor repubs for some reason. Anybody remember seeing this?

7. California is basically red except for LA and SF Bay area
the logic is; massive traffic jams after work in these two areas could cause many working people to give up trying to vote.

3. Would anyone beleive them?
If they make a claim like that they will HAVE to nuke a US city to justify it. Otherwise the disgust and revulsion they would face would turn an election into a public uprising.

The Spanish learned not to lie to their people about matters of life and death and terrorism. It would be tragic if the Bushoids didn't learn from their experience.

4. Yep
That's been my fear. Although I take comfort in believing that the people most likely to be scared away from polls are the scaredy cats already hiding behind Bush's skirts. I think we Kerry voters are made of hardier stock. We'll get to those polls come hell, high water or trumped up red alert!

8. Yeah, I hear you...
I'm just trying to cover every angle this unscrupulous SOB might try. The possibility occurred to me, and I decided to expose it to the harsh light of GD2004 and see how it came out. I put nothing past them, not even a double-or-nothing bet like this with the pig farm on the line.

11. Well, I hope they're at least amusing and inventive.
I did like the call pretending that Kerry would make French the national language. It was like something from The Daily Show.

6. I don't think so. Cheney's in Hawaii.
In order to make it credible they'd have to bunker him down. I wouldn't put it past them but I think it's too late. They're not set up to pull it off.
