Wesley Clark Word of the Day: Unlearned
Edited on Sun Dec-21-03 02:27 AM by WillyBrandt
\Un*learn"ed\, a.

1. Not learned; untaught; uneducated; ignorant; illiterate.

2. Not gained by study; not known.

3. Not exhibiting learning; as, unlearned verses. -- Un*learn\"ed*ly, adv. -- Un*learn\"ed*ness, n.

As in the CBS interview with Dan Rather:

'Well, it's interesting that you bring that up, Dan, because during the campaign people said, about George W. Bush, he's a very nice man. He's got a wonderful family. Everybody loved Laura. She was very attractive and seemed like a very nice person. But he was inexperienced in international affairs and seemed to be unlearned in these matters, and not very interested in them, and people said, “Yeah, but he's gonna have great advisors. He's gonna have, you know Colin Powell's gonna be with him and Dick Cheney's gonna be his vice president and won't that take care of the problem?” And some people said, “Well, what happens if they disagree? Who makes the decision?” And that's precisely what's happened.'

1. Great interview!
He'd be hell on Bush, that's for sure! And a superb President as well.

7. Wow, That's Pretty Amazing, sandnsea
Clark is probably Kerry's biggest rival for the nomination right now, given the situation in New Hampshire, and I know you support Senator Kerry passionately.

But it's nice to see you with eyes on the prize. Good show.

3. "Unlearned" is my favorite so far --
George Bush's willful ignorance is near the top of the list of Bush traits I despise.

5. We expand our vocabulary with Clark. As someone commented

"The best thing about Clark is that he can use words like S*** and "plebiscite" with equal aplomb."

Also, am I wrong if that interview quote makes me thing of not just W?

6. Yes, but can he use them in the same sentence with unlearned?
Enquiring minds want to know.

8. Wes Clark reminds me of somebody
Some of you will find this funny, but he reminds me somewhat of Marv Levy, the Harvard-educated ex-coach of the Buffalo Bills.

At times he would try to stir up his team by mentioning great obscure historical battles.

I loved reading about that man, although his teams brought many of us the ultimate heartbreak.
