Death poems for the Bush campaign
With apologies to the samurai... (http://www.samurai-archives.com/cultcat.html and http://www.salon.com/weekly/zen960805.html)

Like a rotten log
half buried in the ground -
Bush's administration, which
has not flowered, comes
to this sad end.
...

Bitter winds of winter --

but later, river willow,

open up your buds
...

Empty-handed Bush entered the White House

Barefoot he leaves it.

His coming, his going --

Two simple happenings

That got entangled.
...

Like dew drops

on a lotus leaf

Bush vanishes.

1. When tomorrow comes!
From "Les Miserables"

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!

4. Yeah... here's another
Phil Ochs:

http://www.cs.pdx.edu/~trent/ochs/lyrics/whats-that-i-hear.html

What's that I hear now ringing in my ear
I've heard that sound before
What's that I hear now ringing in my ear
I hear it more and more
It's the sound of freedom calling
Ringing up to the sky
You can hear it if you try
You can hear it if you try

What's that I see now shining in my eyes
I've seen that light before
What's that I see now shining in my eyes
I see it more and more
It's the light of freedom shining
Shining up to the sky
It's the light of the old ways a dying
You can see it if you try

What's that I feel now beating in my heart
I've felt that beat before
What's that I feel now beating in my heart
I feel it more and more
It's the rumble of freedom calling
Climbing up to the sky
It's the rumble of the old ways a falling
You can feel it if you try

6. I posted Shelley's "Ozymandius" the other day.
It is a fitting "tribute" to George W. the "king of kings."

My favorite part:

"...Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away."

7. Failed, broken, empty shell of a man
no longer useful to his cause
shunned, now lonely
no longer traveling the great halls
invited, solely
to suck my balls

9. The best I could come up with was a limerick
There once was an administration
Who thought they could hijack a nation
To their great dismay
On election day
They were planning extended vacations

-GR

Limericks really should be much dirtier than that. I'll keep trying.
