Bogus NAACP Letter Sent in S.C. to Suppress the Vote

NAACP, election officials caution voters of bogus letter

Charleston County election officials cautioned South Carolinians on Friday to steer clear of a fake letter that threatens the arrest of voters who have outstanding parking tickets or have failed to pay child support.

"I'm outraged," said Jill Miller, director of the Charleston County Board of Election and Voter Registration. "This is so bogus."

The one-page letter poses as a message from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

The letter says voters must have a credit check, provide two forms of photo identification, a Social Security card, a voter registration card as well as a handwriting sample.

1. I sincerely hope that the scum who have done things like this
all across the country are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Nothing would make me happier. OK, a Kerry win will make me happier. OK, * getting tossed in jail along with his whole cabal would make me happier. But other than that,

3. Thank goodness NAACP took that step to inform people..
Shit like that bogus letter makes me want to kick some ass!

My strong hope is that people are much more aware this year; ready and pumped to vote and NOT allowing anything to intimidate them. I hope anyone challenged will STAND UP to the bullyshit and not be afraid. Vote or die.

Bring Cameras whenever possible!

4. Does anyone know if a copy of the letter is available online?
It would be interesting to see, so it could be debunked in detail.

For someone to make forged documents using unauthorized letterhead to influence an election is lower than low.

7. Repubs worried because most of 38000 newly registered are non-white
I read that over half of newly registered S.C. voters are non-white and out of 38000 new registrations, only 12000 registered as Repubs.

Anecdotally, I heard from a friend who lives in S.C. that many racist RW whites are very concerned about the power of the black vote this year.
