GOP up to false phone calls

posted at Kerry/Edwards forum by Olderwiser
http://forum.johnkerry.com/index.php?showtopic=108455&hl=

I just took the garbage out and when I returned the following call was on my answering machine:
I am calling to warn you that the Democrats are making negative calls and sending negative ads that attack and demonize the Republicans. If you receive one of these calls or ads, call this number to report it: 1-888-610-8170 - Paid for by the Washington State Republican Party.

I was floored - I have never registered as a Republican or voted for a Republican since I first voted in 1960. Any suggestions on how to handle this? Should I ignore it or call the number and leave a message, or go to a pay phone and call the number and leave the phone off the hook? Let me know what you think. I was so offended to have this voice telling me that my party needed to be reported.

2. This is a scare tactic similar to a push-poll
The Republicans are trying to spread rumors that Democrats are making negative calls, when it's actually the Republicans who are making dirty calls.

They know that you won't have any Democratic ads to complain about. They are hoping that their call - with its false accusation - will make you mad at the Democrats.

Sneaky little suckers, aren't they?

3. Yep
Somebody mentioned this earlier at http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1244336

In that thread I posted an example of the GOP's fine "positive" advertising campaigns.
