Just back from Wes Clark event ...he's LIVING in NM thru Election Day!
Edited on Sun Oct-31-04 09:09 PM by Gloria
Came in from Roswell to Las Cruces for a 4:30 event. He was about a half hour late, but it was incredible!! Great crowd and he gave a get out the vote talk, focusing on 3 things to tell people if they were leaning toward Bush. 1 was that they knew 911 was coming and did nothing...they were negligent. 2 I forget....3 on the issue of Kerry being tough enough...well he went into Kerry's service record but also stressed his 4 runs for Senate were tough, he was a prosecutor and put people behind bars AND it didn't take him until the age of 40 to starting getting interested in public life/serving the nation.

Clark looked incredible and has come such a long way as a speaker. Afterwards, a bunch of us Clarkies from way back gathered around him just to relish being in his presence. What a man!!!

Afterwards, I talked to some folks who had been over at the McCain/Pearce rally (Pearce is the Congressman we love to hate--DeLay's whore). They had a big Kerry sign and were asked to leave and as they were starting out they got rough up by some Bush people and the cops intervened.

At the Clark thing, we had the local El Paso stations, so I'll be taping the 10 oclock news tonight!!

I met a couple of neighbors on the way in and they told me their Republican son was voting for Kerry!!! (He's not in NM, so I don't know
how critical his vote will be, but I was happy!)
I also talked to poll guy who was in from AZ to really monitor the vote...

Clark will be in Hobbs tomorrow then in Albuquerque and said he will bein NM on Election Day as well. He is hitting a lot the Republican strongholds, it seems.

Cheney is in the state and I think Bush will be back as well. UGH!!

1. Great...I get to pick him up at the airport tomorrow in Albuquerque.
I can't wait to see him again. He has just been saying what needs to be said and I hope he tells the crowd about what kind of a leader Kerry will be like he did last week on Air America.

Good for you, Gloria...going all the way to Roswell today.

What a finish we're having here in New Mexico.....Bill Clinton yesterday and today Wes Clark and Leonardo Di Caprio tomorrow.

Wooo hooo!

Two days to get out the vote for John Kerry and John Edwards. Thanks to everyone for coming to our little battleground.

12. Can't believe it!...but yes...I go to the airport for Wes.
I'm trying not to think about it...hoping it will just feel normal...but my palms get a bit damp if I allow myself to really think about it more than 15 seconds.

I know you're in Cruces, Gloria,..and just thought you had gone to Roswell. My hasty reading! Glad you didn't have to make that run today.

Are there any reports from Roswell out there? How great that he went to Hobbs and Roswell. That area of our state so often gets neglected!

Finally figured out that General Clark is the one that can attract Republicans and Military and Native Americans? Wow, how perceptive! Too bad they didn't understand that earlier. Oh well, I guess it's better late than never!

3. Ah man, I'm jealous.
I'm back in Cruces for a day, but got here too late to go.

You would think they wouldn't allow * to come back to Cruces, since he did $1 mil damage to the airport runway last time he was here. 'Course that's nothing compared to the damage he has done to our country.

I am tickled to death that Clark went to Hobbs - I think that part of the state has been ignored in this campaign.

:hi: Gloria.

We WILL win New Mexico.

11. Yeah, his big ass planes tore up the airport runway.
Did $1 mil in damage. Bush campaign said tough shit and blamed it on the airport. The airport did give them permission to land, but they landed on the wrong runway. (It looked better for the photo op.) Fuckers. Now me and every other taxpayer down here has to pay for this mess. Grrrrr.

10. Great tactic
Maybe Clark can nail down this state by himself. The more I hear from him, the more I like him. He would have been a really strong candidate. He is definitely going to war for Kerry this election.
