Tom DeLay attempts to take credit in solving train disaster.
In Clear Lake south of Houston, a train carrying chemicals was proposed just hundreds of feet from homes.

We fought this proposed rail extremely hard, with DeLay doing NOTHING about it. Now he is trying to take credit for solving it with this letter we intercepted. See http://www.bayareanewdemocrats.org/delayrailroaded.pdf

My responses sent to his office and 250 local businesses:

As a citizen in Clear Lake who has spent a lot of time and money opposing the San Jacinto Rail (http://users2.ev1.net/~johncoby/rail/) , I am insulted that Tom DeLay would try to take credit for a problem (the San Jacinto Rail) that he created in the first place and did NOTHING for two years to solve it!

Over two years ago, after we learned of the proposed San Jacinto Rail (SJR) members of the Clear Lake community formed an alliance to stop this train in its track. We sent a delegation to meet with Tom DeLay and he REFUSED to get involved.

Every single elected official from the lowly subdivisions to Congress was against this rail, except Tom DeLay. Now two years later, he is trying to claim to have solved the problem. While doing nothing for two years, he collected $51,000 from BNSF, the rail road company, for his PAC.

In 1996 DeLay wrote the Surface Transportation Board in support of the merger between Union Pacific and Southern Pacific claiming it would increase competition. In 2002 the San Jacinto Rail was proposed because the merger created a monopoly creating less competition.

Now DeLay is trying, during an election year, to be the savior to all, when in fact he created the problem (the monopoly in 1996) and did nothing to solve it when the SJR was proposed.

As one of those who spent a considerable amount of time and money to fight this stupidity, I am insulted by Tom DeLay's recent action. Where was he two years ago when his constituents needed him? Why didn't he come to his constituents need when he was asked to? Why did he abandon his district?

1. He's also taking credit for the sun coming up this morning
and some of the people who will vote for him completely believe him when he says it.

See you tomorrow afternoon, John.

2. Question
Is there any hope that this walking plague will lose his election?

3. God is on Tom's side
so I'm assuming he can accomplish anything he wants to.
