Everyone is much more aware about the issues, at least regarding punchard ballots. I expect there will be many fewer hanging chads this time around. Let's hope so anyway!

3. That's funny

I remember Trent Lott (during the "recount") explaining how easy it is to vote, and how he does it. Trent said 'I punch the ballot, and then I turn it over and make sure there aren't any hanging chads'. That's funny Trent, most of us thought that punching the chad, if even only to the point of being a 'swinging door chad' would certainly be enough to insure that our votes were counted. Apparently, Trent had some insider information.

4. For the few precincts still using them: CLEAN OUT THE MACHINES.

That's why they don't punch through. The receptacles are filled with Chads and there's no where for the one on the ballot to go.

You have to dump out all the chads.

5. really....in 96 I had to pick about twenty hanging chads from my ballot

I had no idea what they were at the time....just remembered what a huge pain in the ass that ballot was

last time it worked much better, AND we had a machine that we slid our ballot into, to CHECK for overvotes, etc, so we could CORRECT mistakes like that

how come they didn't have that in Florida?
