thought I would share.
I have a old co-worker who is a born again Christian. she calls every now and then to get computer help. well I guess she just couldn't help herself and decided that she needed to bring me to the messiah, president bush.

I informed her that it would be best if we stayed away from politics, but I guess she took my kindness for a weakness. so she proceeds to start sending me the fundie crap, about bush being a man of god, kerry and liberals are evil baby killers, blah, blah, blah. so on the last email she sends I take the list of all of her friends, (or maybe not friends)and reply back with the link to:

"Exclusive: Bush Wanted To Invade Iraq If Elected in 2000"

http://www.guerrillanews.com/articles/article.php?id=761

now to be honest, I expect that this will be the end of our friendship, which is kind of sad, but it's not really a friendship if it's only one way. I haven't heard back from her yet, but I did get an email from another old co-worker, who would not recognize my email address. so I replied back to her and informed her who she was emailing. I'm pretty sure that I will be the subject of discussion for a while because we were all on pretty good terms. but I found this letter to be pretty much what you would expect from a freeper. so I thought I would share this email with you.

"I don't know who you are, but I assume you are a friend of ?????'s. I will
be careful, for that reason, in what I say. I would not want to offend
?????. But please do not ever email me again.

If you cannot stand behind our Godly president, then at least be respectful
enough to not smear gossip about him, and certainly not to me.

I pray that the Lord will open your eyes to the truth, and you can be
supportive of our president. I want to remind you, if you are a Christian,
that the Word exhorts us to pray for our leaders. He is not perfect, and
has not ever claimed to be. He won't admit to mistakes because people take
that and go crazy with it. I certainly would not want to make the tough
decisions he has to make. You have no idea what goes on behind the
decisions he makes.

God bless you.

5. what's funny is the article is pretty tame as far as bush goes.
and the source for the article is a bush family friend. I wonder if she even read the article, I guess if the headline doesn't say bush is a man of god, it's automatically a lie.

and drinking at that wedding he went to. Ask her where in the Bible does it condone starting wars and taking from the poor and giving to the elite wealthiest. Ask her where in the Bible does it condone lying? Tell her that bearing false witnesses against your neighbor is breaking a commandment, SHE DOES NOT KNOW KERRY!!! He who is without sin, cast the first stone!!!

I'm not kidding about those videos, at least the "one finger salute" one.

Proof Positive that "being respectful" doesn't work...
you have to give those fundies a good hard smack on the nose to keep them away. I am sorry but for years I had morons bash me personally for being a Democrat and holding me personally responsible for Bill Clinton's dick....well when their moronic leader goes around touting himself as god...I give it back with both barrels...I will take no prisoners and that is just it.

I am sorry but a lot of people go along with shit just to be nice. Screw nice.

I recall years ago there was this twit in my old company that was a Promise Keeper...got all the men in the office to go to his "lunch time prayer meetings"...then when the majority of the men started hiding from him or going to lunch outside the building...he didn't get the hint that they didn't find his ideaology palatable...they endured it to be nice and in the end they felt uncomfortable at work...I say bullshit.

12. As a life long agnostic, I have
always tried to be tolerant of people of faith- but they are making it more difficult every day. I'm a fellow Okie, so I am well versed in the "Christ was a devout Republican" mind set that permeates this state. I have a few friends of faith that I still love and respect, so I haven't given up on the breed as a whole- but the profound ignorance and hypocrisy of the rank and file bible belter has stretched my tolerance to it's limits. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall Jesus's "We should protect the wealthy, and let the poor fend for themselves sermon"? Was that the one he gave AFTER his bit condoning the death penalty for minors and the mentally infirm? Was it before the one about turning the other cheek- unless they REALLY piss you off, and in that case- carpet bomb them, and if a few thousand Kids get in the way that's too fucking bad?
I think you did the right thing sending that e-mail. It is OK to pity them for their ignorance. The problem is that there are so many of them, and with the VERY REAL problems facing our nation and the world, we can't afford to allow these childish, mean-spirited people to chart our course .

13. "the Word exhorts us to pray for our leaders..."
I'll take her word for it, but as I recall Jesus told his followers to pray for their enemies as well as their friends. I don't recall Jesus saying that we should turn a blind eye to corruption and thievery. Seems to me that Jesus had some pretty strong words for people who stole from others, especially when they used religion as a cover.

Did this nice lady pray for Clinton when he was president? Didn't think so.

I know how badly you feel about this. I got hit with similar emails and posts from some people on another forum when I committed the grave sin of linking articles critical of their "Beloved Leader." Fortunately I didn't know them very well and didn't care much, but it was still like a shock of cold water.

I'm sorry that your coworkers are so blinded by Republican lies that they would turn on an old friend simply for pointing out the truth.

16. Here's a good article with Bible verses to refute
http://www.commondreams.org/views04/1025-25.htm

Ask them to read the article, look into their hearts and examine if bush* is Christ-like and follows His examples. If they are honest, they will conclude that he is more like the Pharisees than Christ. He is the antithesis of Christ. I would call him Anti-Christ!!

17. Share these articles with your friend.
Also tell her that Bush has announced he's for same-sex civil unions (so, except for the Constitutional amendment crap, Bush and John Kerry have the EXACT same position on this issue).

Kerry goes to church every week; Bush doesn't. John Kerry and Teresa went to Mass together on their first "date."

A warmonger is not following the teachings of Christ (blessed are the peacemakers, which means George is going to H-E-double hockey stick).

Tell her about Bush getting an illegal abortion for his girlfriend Robin Lowman in the '70s (now Robin Lowman Garner, married to an FBI agent).

Tell her about PNAC and how Bush's now-aides have been trying to get Iraq invaded since 1998!!!

Here are two articles on his fake Christianity.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A24634-2004Sep15?language=printer

snip:

"...But Bush had not actually said that abortion is tantamount to murder. Nor, according to aides, has he ever said that all abortions should be illegal. When asked by reporters during the 2000 presidential campaign and again last fall whether abortion should be banned, Bush said the nation was not ready for that step, without indicating his position.

"George W. Bush is among the most openly religious presidents in U.S. history. A daily Bible reader, he often talks about how Jesus changed his heart. He has spoken, publicly and privately, of hearing God's call to run for the presidency and of praying for God's help since he came into office.

"But despite the centrality of Bush's faith to his presidency, he has revealed only the barest outline of his beliefs, leaving others to sift through the clues and make assumptions about where he stands. Bush has said many times that he is a Christian, believes in the power of prayer and considers himself a "lowly sinner." But White House aides said they do not know whether the president believes that: the Bible is without error; the theory of evolution is true; homosexuality is a sinful choice; only Christians will go to heaven; support for Israel is a biblical imperative; or the war in Iraq is part of God's plan.

Some political analysts think there is a shrewd calculation behind these ambiguities. By using such phrases as the "culture of life," Bush signals to evangelical Protestants and conservative Catholics that he is with them, while he avoids taking explicit stands that might alienate other voters or alarm foreign leaders. Bush and his chief speechwriter, Michael J. Gerson, are "very gifted at crafting references that religious insiders will understand and outsiders may not," said the Rev. Jim Wallis ...

And here's the infamous Gail Sheehy story from Vanity Fair from 2000. This shows how hollow Bush's supposed "conversion" really was. It makes me sick.

http://gailsheehy.com/Politics/polimain_bush3.html

"... Bush's drinking had become more than just an embarrassment to the whole family. Laura Bush, a Midland librarian whom Bush had married when he was 31, tried the soft sell, taking him, along with the Evanses and the Joneses, to a religious lecture series given by Christian author and broadcaster James Dobson. But Bush refused to behave himself. "Laura would be sitting next to George, and George would come around to sit next to me" so the two could crack jokes, says Jones. "What kind of pants did the Levites wear?" Bush would whisper.

"...In 1985, Don Evans urged Bush to join a new kind of men's group—a franchised Community Bible Study program for men, a precursor to the Promise Keepers. ... But Jones doesn't remember Bush taking that spiritual exercise very seriously either. The pastor would ask a question from the lesson: "What happened to the Jew on his way to Jericho?" "He got his butt whipped," Bush shot back. ... And when his attention span was exceeded, he set his watch to go off in the middle of the pastor's spiel. The other men guffawed, and the following week they all set their watches and the class turned into a cacophony of alarm bells. Jones, who can point to the exact date when he became a born-again Christian, never heard Bush describe a conversion experience. "He never said he was spiritually empty. It's my understanding that his profession of faith was made in 1986, after the Reverend Billy Graham visited."

"... Probably mindful of Big George's savaging by the Christian right, Mrs. Bush told reporters that her son has always read the Bible. (Bush challenged that myth in a recent interview with The Washington Post: "No, I wasn't reading the Bible when I was younger.") It is also his mother who likes to tell the conversion story ... "

19. I know what you're saying, but...
...you're not going to rationlize with these people. If you say something that doesn't fit into their worldview, their eyes will glaze over, and they won't hear a thing you say from that point forward. These people are no different than Moonies or Hari Krishnas. In fact, thats what they really are. They're just religious zealots. They live in an alternate universe.

I couldn't take her pro-* emails any more, so I responded in kind with the facts about her hero and Kerry. I haven't heard from her since.

 Maybe after the election we can rebuild that bridge.

Thanks for the link to the article, it is great! It deserves a thread of its own!

The shrub admitted he never finished his guard service, he was excused! Also, he was planning the war in Iraq while gov of texas, I guess Mexico should feel blessed!
