1. I heard it too.
I looked at my husband and said WTG Walter, a member of the tin foil hat society.

I'm not exactly sure what he meant about that, but I'm sure he was suggesting release date, not necessarily Rove and Osama are butt buddies.

12. He might have been implying
that since the US had the tape for hours before it was released that Rove tried to figure out the best way to play it to his advantage since he couldn't really stop Al Jazeera . So he rewrote Bushco's speech this morning from the usual "Kerry is a weak weenie" to a "invoke the memory of the great leader on 9/11 (actually 9/14 when he stopped shaking enough to go to NYC)". and try for the umpteenth time to captialize on the deaths of 3000.

3. Yes I did. Cronkite is a very brave man and if he says it, it's
ok for the rest of us to think it.

7. Cronkite also said what I thought when I heard the tape.
That Bin Laden wants a U.S. President that can negotiate so this thing can come to some kind of end. That would be Kerry.

10. I didn't hear that but good on him!
I did see Cronkite lamenting about the poverty in this country. He's a good man. I still miss his kind of journalism.

If so, repeated twice, at midnight eastern and 3 AM on lovely CNN.

13. That is weird. I hadn't heard Cronkite's statement nor read this post and
I just posted virtually the same damned question!

My post, Does Bush have a Direct Line to OBL occurred to me when I heard Pat Buchanan and G. Gordon Liddy chuckle over the fact that this new tape has deflected media attention from those looted explosives and that added that this can only help the president.

Now I'm not sure if it will help him. There are a lot of frightened little sheeple out there. But I agree that Bush/Rove might think this could help him.

Since Bushes and Bin Ladens are so tight, does Bush pick up the phone and say, "Hey, can you get Osama to release a new tape? I'm dropping poll points here! Remember the Iraqi oil now."

17. Cronkite reminded me of the good old days when we had a press
He's so different from the media whores on TV today.

It makes me sick what has happened to journalism in this country. That is the saddest development, it allowed bushco to sleaze into power.
