Great insight from my college age brother

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6338051/

Good article about polling.

I also wanted to tell you all that I just got back from visiting my little brother at college and the kids are really into this election and know so much (I never followed it this closely when I was 20 (then again, I had Clinton in office!). Now, he does go to school in a non-swing state (Boston), but I hope it is an indication of the college vibe.

Also, every single one of them has cell phones and something they said made me feel good (because it doesn't just apply to college kids). They said that most people who have roommates have cell phones so that they didn't argue over a phone bill...which would be a good sign with the single woman (or man) vote...all my single friends who have roommates use a cell phone...and people tend to have roommates and cell phones in cities (where rent is higher) where more democrats live!

2. I'm so happy for such well informed college students!
I was in college during the Clinton years (and yearn for those years of hope again). I had no doubt Clinton would win a second term, so I didn't pay much attention.

When I got out of college I was hopeful for my future............these kids in school right now are far from confident...plus all the religion REALLY SCARES THEM!

Most of them are scared of the draft..........have a gay friend...and strongly believe in a woman's right to choose.

When I was in school I felt the same (except for the draft), but I didn't realize how many religious nuts and neo-cons were out there...I didn't think my opinion was that different from a large majority. The kids in school got their rude awakening earlier in life!

4. I agree
I think college students are the group that will do it for Kerry. The news always reports that young voters are unreliable, but I honestly think there will be tons.

In contrast I don't think the republican turnout will be as high as expected (I think many people who can't bring themselves to vote for John Kerry because of being a life long republican, simply won't vote!)
