Bush's amazing consistently changing explanations
The pattern is almost comical.

Tax cuts were/are right because: The economy was doing so well, the economy was doing so poorly.

War with Iraq was/is right because Saddam thumbed his nose at the world, was connected to 9/11, had WMD, was about to have WMD, might someday have had WMD, posed an immediate threat to attack America, posed a potential threat to someday attack America, posed a threat to someday help those who threaten to attack America, was/is a very bad man, and he stood in the way of freedom marching.

And the explanations for those 380 eighty tons of explosives going A.W.O.L. sound like a Saturday Night Live routine. Good troops/bad troops, good Russians/bad Russians. Huge trucks pulling up to carry all of them away before the invasion, Trained monkeys (OK I made that part up) sneaking them out of ventilation shafts after we invaded. All of them were gone/most of them gone. We never saw them when we got there/we took them ourselves after we got there, and on, and on, and on....

2. I'm tellin' ya
It's the Jon Lovitz Administration! "Yeah...a...um, soldier took 'em! That's the ticket!"

That's my meme and I'm sticking to it.

5. You nailed it!
The beauty in the Weapons scandal is that it is a condensed microcosm of the Iraq war exuces. Since Monday, they have come out with EIGHT different excuses for the weapons. It is sheer brilliance!

6. Yeah, spin reality is getting compressed isn't it?
Keep packing the shit denser and you finally hit critical mass. In fact, I think it just did. Kaboom!

7. Perfect
THese people don't understand the rule of holes. They just keep digging and digging and digging.

If we're lucky, the hole will collapse under its own instability burying these clowns.

8. Their latest explanation will backfire
This will all backfire. It was the Bush campaign that lost several campaign days to Kerry's attacks. All this news conference will do is muddy the issue and raise more questions. It's far from a slam-dunk against Kerry. If anything, most of the damage against Bush will remain.

On top of all that, also consider the answer to reporters that basically read "We don't know that the explosives we're talking are the same as the explosives in question". Wow.

Rove miscalculated, again.

10. The more they try to clean it up
the further it gets stuck in the spin cycle. There's never a Maytag man when you really need one..

9. This reminds me of the "yawning boy" video explanation.
The White House explained the video of the boy standing behind Bush and yawning during Bush's speech by saying that the boy wasn't even at the Bush rally, and anyway the boy wasn't yawning, and besides that the boy was standing someplace else. Then the White House admitted that the boy was standing behind Bush and was yawning but it was the fault of the boy's father for keeping the boy up all night.
