Elections can turn on a dime and I remember the confidence level on DU in 2002.

I remember election day well. The recent death of Wellstone. The ramp-up to war.

When we all heard turn-out was unusually heavy, we took it to be a good sign for Democrats. Instead, the bad guys won and took back the Senate. It was a dark day for DU.

If we get a repeat in 2004, I sure as hell won't be coming around DU for a while. I'll be depressed enough without that.

Both of us are oldtimers here. We've seen teh good and the bad. We've seen the ups and the downs.

Remember how many times something was going to destroy Bush? Remember us waiting for the NORC results of their recount to come out on a shiny tuesday in Septmeber.

My hopes have been dashed too many times in the past four years for me to get cokcy now.
