I'm using this as an excuse to re-post an earlier rant. Please tell us what you're up to in your neck of the wood (canvassing, phone banking, etc.)

Is anyone on this board NOT helping out in some way?

----------------------------------------
From 7am to 8pm, every one of us should be working phone banks, driving folks to the polls, standing outside the polls handing out literature, poll-watching, or in some way ACTIVELY CONTRIBUTING TO A KERRY VICTORY.

Shut-in because of illness or a new baby or some other reason? Volunteer your phone and help whoever is coordinating poll coverage in your area. Things are gonna get hairy, and they'll need you! Volunteer to take calls from folks in the field who are helping new voters find their polling place, and do look-ups for them on My polling place.com or using a county map.

If you aren't booked all day Nov 2, call the DNC (look up the Democratic Party offices in your county - they'll have the number). MoveOn and America Coming Together (ACT) are also putting together teams to GOTV.

Procrastinated until Nov 2? Walk up to the folks handing out the Dem literature at your closest polling place and say "what can I do? How can I help?" We're all connected via cell-phone, and I guarantee you, someone will be able to use your help covering a poll SOMEWHERE in your district. For god's sake, we even need help delivering lunches to our workers at the polls. WE NEED YOU!

This is the most important election of our lifetime. Take the day off work. We need your feets on the streets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Unfortunately, being sick
Nasty cough and head cold that won't go away, lingering for the past few weeks. Don't want to go out in public too much and spread my evil germs. Sorry.

3. My Life Is On Hold Until Nov. 2....
Everything else can and will wait while I'm working at Hdqtrs on GOTV.
I don't trust polls, Bush or the media. Don't wake up Nov. 3rd wondering if you could have done more. Believe me, you will not recognize this country after 4 more years of Bush.

4. Vote early on Nov 2, then hold a pillow over my head for two days.
That's because I am a weinie and this is all making me a nervous wreck!
Ulcer! Zits! Bad hair days!

I'm not good at waiting for the end of a book or a movie or... this election!

p.s. I have donated once more last night to DNC. I live in rural Vermont. Kerry, Leahy, Sanders -- all winners here. The governor's race is up-for-grabs. I admit to being ambivalent about it, but have made up my mind.

5. Schedule...
Edited on Fri Oct-29-04 09:57 AM by liburl
This morning is spent about an hour and a half putting signs out in high-traffic areas for our local candidates. (I need to go shopping for my son's birthday and make something he likes for dinner along with a cake so the rest of the day/evening is pretty well committed to family).

I signed up last night at our local Dem meeting to walk a precinct and hand out info, encourage to vote, make sure they have polling place info, answer questions, etc. Also, might be walking a second precinct with one of our local candidates...he's got my name/number/email. That will be this Sat/Sun/Mon.

I'm also going to check with Gloria Anderson, our candidate running a very strong campaign against Judy Biggert, and see if she wants me to put out more signs for her.

On Tuesday about 5:30 am, I'm walking about half a block to our polling place to put out the signs for Kerry/Edwards and the rest of our local candidates that are on our ballot. I'm also pollwatching throughout the day.

After dinner Tuesday, I'll be drinking a lot of beer, biting my nails, and flipping channels on the tube. It may be a very long night.

edit to add: And one more thing I'll be doing on Tuesday...VOTING KERRY/EDWARDS FOR THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!! :bounce:
