Ventura speaks out for Kerry

Former Gov. Jesse Ventura ripped President Bush on Thursday for mismanaging the war in Iraq, for burdening future generations with a huge national debt and for mixing personal faith with public policy.

He even scoffed at Bush's service in the Texas Air National Guard.

"If I were to serve that way in the United States Navy, I firmly believe I would never have gotten an honorable discharge, because that was not serving with honor, when you don't show up," Ventura, a former Navy SEAL, told several hundred students at Century College in White Bear Lake.

"I would have probably ended up in the Portsmouth naval prison," Ventura added later.

Ventura, a political independent who often complains about the two-party system, last week broke his own rule against endorsing major-party candidates during a silent appearance at a Kerry/Edwards event. Ventura broke his silence Thursday in a bicep-flexing appearance at three Minnesota community colleges.
