International Election officials on the way
Is it news to anyone besides me that the Justice Dept. has invited international election officials and that they're on their way?

I had no idea. Hard to believe Ashcroft invited international election officials.

2. Saw it on CNN!
Couldn't believe it myself, nearly fell off the chair. They're supposed to be camped out in the swing states, moving from polling place to polling place.

4. I'd love to hear JC's response to this!
JC = Jimmy Carter, in this case. He commented before that they couldn't observe the elections unless they were invited in by both sides, and he said "I can't imagine that happening in Florida."

5. typical rovian spin is that they INVITED them. i call bu**sh**!
election monitors were called in by concerned statesmen outside the white house, most notably jimmy carter.

they were coming whether shrub wanted them or not. it's very typical rove to take credit for something you wanted to stop, tried to stop, but lost that battle.

6. I know, that's why I'm just jumping for joy!
I signed a petition to bring them in a while ago. It's just so exciting to start seeing things happen!

7. I hadn't heard of international elections officials...
but this morning on MSRNC, I believe, they announced that the Justice Department was assigning 1000 federal election observers to the battleground states (mostly Florida and Ohio). This is good news indeed.

8. positive they were coming in from overseas
since the piece stated that they were coming in from countries that weren't yet fully evolved democracies themselves. My only concern was that they'll be focusing on more obvious infractions than subtle repug tricks.
