Bunnatine Greenhouse - Wistleblower against Halliburton!
Just saw this story on Hardball, MSNBC, Chris Matthews. She is a top procurement officer for the Pentagon, and approved the no-bid contract worth some nine billion dollars for Halliburton. However she wrote on the contract that she was only approving it for one year, rather than five years as they wanted. The contract was made secretly because it was done before the invasion of Iraq.

She was called on the carpet by a Major General, who told her that she was not to write such notes on any contract. If she did so, she would be demoted. At that point she retained a well-known Washington attorney. Seems that Congress gave her job immunity from such pressure, as she is supposed to be independent, and looking out for taxpayer interests. Sen. Lautenburg on New Jersey has also become involved in this, and he has written a letter about it to Vice President Cheney.

The F.B.I. is investigating this. No doubt more details will be forthcoming in the press, but this looks like a big story, on the eve of the election!

2. Think about this..... 9 Billion Dollars.... equals..... NINE THOUSAND
MILLION DOLLARS. Quite a giveaway for Cheney's old company. Even if I had left a company.... I would still be sorta tickled to see this happening for them.

Now... if I still received some sort of recompense from said company.. but decided to donate it to charity...... would that donation result in a huge income tax deduction for me? Just a little curious how all that works..... very curious actually.

Rumor has it that we will have a real president in a few days.... the response has been overwhelming.
