Why are we still watching Fox, CNN, etc?
Shouldn't we um... STOP WATCHING THAT BIASED TRASH?

Maybe we can appoint like 1 person to watch each channel, to catch it if anything important happens. There's no reason to boost their ratings.

Edited on Thu Oct-28-04 08:08 PM by mandyky
I've cut way back on CNN. I watch CSpan's Washington Journal, maybe 3 hours of Cnn and Hardball and sometimes Countdown. I also watch Daily Show and weekly Bill Maher's Real Time. If 60 Minutes is good I watch that. Most of my news comes from online - DU LBN and Smirking Chimp.

OH! And don't forget AAR! They have saved my sanity!

Certainly not Ms Rice. Her doctorate is as false as everything else about her.

33. See, this is why they call liberals condescending.
I see your point of view and don't agree. Thanks have a nice day.

We get plenty of news and opposing viewpoints from other sources. The cable news networks are simply trash.

36. Oh, me, too. I can't wait to see the looks on their faces.
Not to mention all of the exploding, imploding, and spontaneous combusting that will be going on with those talking heads. ;) It couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of folks, either.

One thing, though, while I will be channel-surfing to catch the cable news meltdown, I intend to record CBS. I honestly want to see the look on Dan Rather's face as he realizes that Junior is going back to Crawford in January without Air Force One. I think Dan deserves his moment (or many) of sheer joy on that one. He got played by Junior's thugs. This will definitely help. :toast:

22. Not watching except in brief spurts...keep an eye on the whores
CNN was my primary source of television news until AOL Time Warner. Faux has always been a joke. It's worth watching a snippet every few days to remind me how vile and corrupt our public discourse is. The only full length show I'll watch on cable news is Kieth O. He is a rare find.

CNN makes NO money. Faux is wholly dependent on O'Liely for their meager profit (if they even have one). The NBC's are just Faux junior.

The internet rules the news!

Al Gores cable network will rule the air waves.

AMF Faux, CNN, and the BSNBC's (Kieth O can go with Gore).

34. to correct them
None of us on DU learn anything from them, but most other Americans use it for their sole source of news. We need to watch to correct all their errors and monitor what BS they are slinging. No one else will.

at all. it is not healthy to watch lies. i don't think germany in the 1930's would've been saved if all the thinking people had watched all the propaganda so that they could "correct it".

39. Mainstream Media
I recently gave a speech to my speech class on why you should vote democratic, and my main source was archived stories off of cnn.com. I later checked my facts on www.factcheck.org , which is my favorite news source now. It turns out that I was completely correct :). The thing is, another thing that is definetly a good source of info for the part of my speech on why Clinton was awesome, was my US History textbook, which had really cool charts. I try to at least use sources that conservatives can believe, to an extent. After all, they think that there is a liberal media bias, we think there's a conservative bias in the media, doesn't that mean that most of the mainstream media is well, moderate??? There's so much evidence to point the media in a left or right direction, so I just go on instinct and trust them for the facts, and come to sites like these and air america just for fun.
