Phone Banking Opportunities between now and 11/2 ? Help !
I volunteered online at the California DNC site, but never heard back.

I would like to be involved with an effort that REALLY makes a difference.

Do any of you know if moveon or any of the other hard hitting anti-bush* 527's have phone banking opportunities ?

(I wouldn't mind calling undecided voters at 3AM and reminding them to vote for bush* or something equally as effective ! ;-)

THANKS

1. Moveon.org
is organizing GOTV Phone Parties, you can get details on their site. I signed on to do some calls myself.

2. Where in CA are you?
I also volunteered a couple times at the CA Dems website, and haven't heard back! If you are close to Riverside, though, you can go to a John Kerry meeting at Back to the Grind on University Ave. at 7:00pm. If you want directions, hit me with an email at Knurled99@aol.com

6. Hollywood >
I'm going to the Kerry meetup tonight, but hoped to learn of some more 'guerilla' type efforts.

For all the times I was contacted by moveon, months ago to attend house parties etc, I would have thought they would have been more active now in the final days.

5. True Majority has a great effort going!
(from my email)

Join Thousands of TrueMajority Members
Calling New Voters from Home

and Invite Everyone You Know to Do the Same

Click here to call new voters from your home

With just five days left before the election, we all want to do everything we can to make sure that the day is a cause for celebration. The key will be turning out the millions of newly registered voters we've all helped sign up over the last six months. How can we do this? Last week we wrote that the absolute best, most effective way to ensure that newly registered voters actually make it to the polls is to knock on their doors or call them.
With your help we've created a way for everyone to help make those calls to these new voters right from the comfort of your home and on your schedule. Over 7,000 TrueMajority members jumped at this opportunity and have already made tens of thousands of calls. We've been getting e-mails telling us what a great experience it has been. We've also made the system available to anyone else who wants to use it, and scores of other groups are telling their members about this opportunity so that thousands more are now on board.

It's really easy to do, and we promise that you'll feel great when you are done. Just register with our VoterCall system, and we'll give you some names and numbers to call. You'll get a simple script asking new voters if they know where to vote and if they need any help getting to the polls on Election Day. If they do, we'll pass their names on to a group in their community who'll work to get them the help they need.

While you're on the phone with a possible first-time voter, you can take a moment to share why this election is so important to you and really urge him or her to vote. This person-to-person contact is really effective in turning out new voters, and you can do it from home when it's convenient for you.

To learn more and to register for making calls, just click this link:
http://www.votercall.org/register/

The VoterCall system is supported by civicactions, whom you can reach at info@civicactions.com or by calling (510) 684-3180 if you have any problems that their helpful "frequently asked questions" page at http://www.votercall.org/faqs.htm does not answer.

Also, if you are part of any other group you think might want to help, please feel free to tell them about this. Just forward this e-mail around. The system is free and anyone can use it. Think of everybody from a bowling league to national peace and justice groups. Many groups would like to help but don't have the money to set up a phonebank themselves. That's fine — they can use ours.

Together we'll make a difference on Nov. 2!

P.S. On a personal note, I just wanted to thank my father, who phonebanked for the first time in his life this weekend. While the fact that 7,000 TrueMajority members phonebanking is inspiring, sometimes it's the one closest to home that matters most.
