Faux News: Pentagon has found pics that show the trucks moving explosives
before war started....

I read this over on freakrepukelick.

These are satellite photos - and I find them quite suspect.

Nothing about this story is going to help Bush. And the more the Bushies try to lie about it the worse they look.

Even the government we put in doesn't like him.

They spilled this story.

Why? If they were behind Bush they would not have. They want a change too.

No matter how you slice this story, it's terrible for Bush.

22. I agree...
...the Bushistas are much more clever than we ever give them credit for. I heard the story, jumped for joy and then hoped Kerry would sit back for a few days and let the press have at it. Instead, he's the story. I'm suffering from pre election indigestion right now....and I don't need this. This race can be won by Kerry, but regardless it will be tight...screw ups must be avoided at this point. I don't know why he feels the need to go out on a limb and risk being wrong or perceived as wrong.

10. Ugh.
Will they never cease to be morins.

There were 35 tons of explosives missing at the last check of the UN inspectors before Bush ejected them out of Iraq. They sealed the remaining 380 tons with the IAEA seal.

Of course Iraqis were seen removing the 35 tons. They didn't levitate out of there. Fix news would be a good place to open a news station.

17. A2 "The explosives were missing before the war"
Edited on Wed Oct-27-04 05:35 PM by debatepro
I started working on answer to this argument this morning. I am at work and was busier than expected. I thought IAEA said that there were hundreds of other sites. which means even if you prove this one you still have hundreds more to answer for.

1. Iraqi head of Science ministry's site monitory department says "Impossible that they were taken before the fall of the regime.
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=1514&u=/afp/iraq_us_explosives&printer=1
But as the issue of the missing explosives took centre stage in the final days of the US presidential campaign, some US officials have suggested they had gone before the US-led forces moved on Baghdad.
"It is impossible that these materials could have been taken from this site before the regime's fall," said Mohammed al-Sharaa, who heads the science ministry's site monitoring department and previously worked with UN weapons inspectors under Saddam.
"The officials that were inside this facility (Al-Qaqaa) beforehand confirm that not even a shred of paper left it before the fall and I spoke to them about it and they even issued certified statements to this effect which the US-led coalition was aware of."

2. Your playing Defense - Other sites were also not quarded.
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=1514&u=/afp/iraq_us_explosives&printer=1
Sharaa also warned that other nearby sites with similar materials could have also been plundered.
"The Al-Milad Company in Iskandariyah and the Yarmouk and Hateen facilities contained explosive materials that could have also been taken out," the official told AFP in an interview.

3. Photos just sets them up for the - oh you mean like the ones that you showed the UN.

31. Here's another good'un
Let's see them spin this article:

"This stuff was well-known. Everyone knew it was there, and it
should have been among the first sites to be secured," said a European
diplomat familiar with the disappearance of the explosives, which was
first reported Monday by The New York Times.

At the Pentagon, an official who monitors developments in Iraq said
US-led coalition troops had searched Al-Qaqaa in the immediate aftermath
of the March 2003 invasion and confirmed that the explosives, which had
been under IAEA seal since 1991, were intact. Thereafter the site was
not secured by U.S. forces, the official said, also speaking on
condition of anonymity.

The IAEA had periodically inspected the site between 1991 and 2003,
including numerous times between November 2002 and March 2003, the
official said. As of January 2003 the IAEA had "fully inventoried" the
site, the official said. It was not clear what additional inspections
were done between January and March.

Gee, that doesn't sound like a very proactive approach to guarding the safety of the freedom-loving people of Iraq!

Face it--it's lose/lose for these guys. The bombs were there in March '03 and gone by April '03. That means that they were either:

1) Looted during/after the war

or

2) Moved before the war--under the nose of the intelligence community, which, at the time, was focused like a laser on Iraq, trying to find any scrap of evidence that could be construed as a casus belli.

Either way, BushCo™ fucked up.

- Don't let the RWingers redirect the debate. The FACT is Bush* didn't send enough troops to secure anything but the oil fields and ministry...which was why EVERYTHING ELSE WAS LOOTED.

44. No don't worry
Even if these phots are released, it proves nothing. Second, why has it taken 18 months to figure out these things are missing. And, where are they.

Also, on April 3, they found explosives there. Why wasn't this stuff guarded or destroyed.

I think they should focus on the conventional stuff that you could have walked in there and taken.

That is where my problem is.

Foxnews doesn't know where the explosives are, no one does. No one knows what happened to them. THAT IS THE POINT.

45. You are a DEM, surely you can navigate this story better
What's missing is high grade explosives that the UN allowed Saddam to keep. They have been under UN seal for years, and everyone knew they were there. These are not weapons - unless they fall into the wrong hands - which they have now apparently done, thanks to Bush's incompetence.

These shouldn't be called weapons, and certainly are nothing like WMD. But in the wrong hands, they can kill our soldiers for sure.

55. they're explosives, not wmd's, and they were under lock and key
to me this story illustrates the problem between republicans have with the truth.

Fact: explosives were under lock and key of international monitoring agency 18 months ago, now they're missing.

Bush spin: we don't know where they are, but atleast they're not in Saddam's hands!!

The bush spin is ridiculous: so the weapons aren't with saddam. OK, but what if they're with Osama???? What if they're with the next "bad guy"???

Their logic here is weak.
