Republicans gather to bash Bush
By Gary Gerhardt, Rocky Mountain News
October 26, 2004

A number of lifelong Republicans gathered at Kerry-Edwards headquarters in Denver on Monday to endorse Democrats this year.

Members of the group said they had soured for various reasons on President Bush's policies and would not support his re-election.

2. Take that, denverpost and rockymountainnews..
"Bill Winter, a Colorado native who formerly served both in the Marine Corps and Navy, worked for presidential bid of U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

"My disillusionment with the Republican Party started when we watched Congress spending so much time trying to impeach Bill Clinton when there were so many other urgent things that needed to be done," he said.

"I disagree with the Iraq policy and am tired of people who never served a day in the military telling me I am a traitor for it."

5. Woah, people that tellyou that
should be reminded they are free to move to a country that isn't.

But, what does serving in the military have to do with it?

4. Born on Third Base with a Silver Spoon, Bush is Gold - Fool’s Gold
Edited on Wed Oct-27-04 03:41 PM by burnin_furman
I can understand why very wealthy people who live off their investments vote Republican. They don’t work. They don’t even look for work. They don’t need to. They don’t worry about schools, or medical insurance, or car payments. They don’t worry about money. It’s there.

But I can’t see why working people vote Republican - whether they are “manufacturing” fast food for $7 per hour or cardiologists working for $300 per hour. Under Presidents like Reagan and the Bushes their workload goes up, their expenses go up, and their income goes down.

Come to think of it, I’m not sure why the wealthy support Bush. And I know why wealthy people like George Soros and Warren Buffet are against Bush. When Clinton was President, they did well. The economy was booming and the middle class did well, and they were buying stuff and the people selling stuff did well too. While the wealthy are doing well with Bush in the White House, they are not doing as well as they did under Clinton. They may be paying less taxes, but they are making less money. I’d rather make $2 million and pay $900,000 in taxes than make $1 million and pay zero.

Grandson of a Senator, son a man who would become Congressman, Vice President, and then President, George W. Bush may have been born on third base with a silver spoon in his mouth, but he hasn’t been a “Golden” President. “Fool’s Gold” more like it.
