Cancel your subscription for a few weeks and tell them that you are doing this because of their endorsement....

Letters and EMails mean absolutely nothing to the publisher simply because their eyes are firmly fixed on the bottom line....

To make it more effective, drop a line to the papers major advertiser and tell them you are dropping your subscription to the paper because of their endorsement policy.....

I was going to do that here in Cleveland but the PD coped for the no endorsement. And although I thought it pretty lame, at least the editorial board stood up to the lunatic running the paper......

2. I completely disagree
the Denver Post said it got 700 letters about its Bush endorsement, ALL of them were anti-Bush.

Pretty damn impressive, and hard to ignore.

3. Yea, but the publisher could care less....
Remember, the editors read the l;etters not the publisher.....

9. but the editors care
that's important. They'll think twice about doing a dishonest endorsement again, now that they know people are paying attention.

Anyway, it's not either/or. Let the people that want to boycott boycott, and let the people who want to write write.

4. That is an impressive number
what do you think the Post will do about it? I'm not sure what impact either action has on a paper. They can't re-close the door and the circumstances "next time" will be different so they will respond "in a different manner."

to the Post, too, so there must be more.

12. Because the Post endorsement was not actually an endorsement.
It was a joke. It was a sarcastic pseudo-endorsement, probably because the editorial board wanted to endorse Kerry but were forced by the publisher to endorse Bush (this happens from time to time in newspapers). I urge you guys to go and actually read the editorial; it's damning with faint praise, and I think it's intentional.

14. Links...
If this doesn't sound like someone writing with a gun to their head, I don't know what does:

only it was the readers who pulled the trigger:

Never seen anything like that before

5. Do both.
Cancel your subscription, and then write a LTTE telling them why.

Oooooh 3-0 RED SOX!!! (Watching the game as I type!)

10. I too was ready to cancel
Methinks they were deluged with e-mails calling them on the carpet. I sent them a biting e-mail when the story broke last weekend.
