Maybe it wont take until December this time, but it won't be November 3rd either. There was too much of a precedent set last time round. If its close anywhere and there is any hint of something foul, it will be challenged. Both the Republicans and Democrats will be challenging results and the like. There is no reason for the Democrats not to; my mother tells me there are some fishy things going on in MN already. (The difference is that the Republicans will be trying to disenfranchise voter and Democrats will be challenging the disenfranchisement.)

I hate to say it, I'm ready for this to be over, but we wont know on the 3rd.

1. We will know Nov. 2nd
Kerry is pulling ahead in the polls and the polls don't even account well for all of the newly registered voters that will favor Kerry by at least 3-1

5. Polls don't matter now
The only count that matters is the votes. If people are discouraged (or disallowed) from voting, or the votes themselves are not counted (and properly) no amount of newly registered voters are going to make up for that.

The legal wrangling that I foresee taking place is going to take place in any place that its close, and there are enough close states (counties, cities, individual polling places!) that its going to take time to work though the courts even at the break neck speed it moved last time round.

3. if this is true the dems will lose, only the votes cast on nov 2 will be
counted. while we are trying to get people their voting rights, the secretary of state in fla and ohio will declare bush the winner based on legal votes cast. they are evil.

7. I hope the networks learned from 2000
Last time they just followed Fox on the Florida count. That may have a good deal to do with why we have the Chimp now. (OutFoxed is a great movie) Lets hope they each do their own analysis this time.

6. We'll know on Nov. 2 before midnight
And John Kerry will be the 44th President of the United States.

It won't be close enough to challenge.

11. Hello to all of you

I have a question for you guys. I'm from The Netherlands and i'm going to watch election night when the results come in. But I have a BIG problem. On wednesday November 3rd I have an exam (f*cking school) and it starts at about 10:30 dutch time (that's 4:30 EST i believe). So do you think that (under normal conditions) the results will be in by then.

P.S.: can you tell me when each state will give it's result

THANX A LOT

12. Sorry, no...
... the polls close at 7:00 local time. So in NY, the polls will close at 7 EST. Even though there will be some exit polling done, I don't think you'll see any meaningful results reporting until 9:00 EST, and of course CA doesn't close until 9:00 EST.

It will likely be midnight before there is any real result, unless of course it is truly a landslide and Kerry locks up an electoral victory early. Not impossible, but not particularly likely either.

15. yes I understand

but I mean can you give me an idea of how it's going to be (the election night) how the results will come in and how trustworthy they are. because I have seen some footage of that (mainly of 2002 midterm) and it looks very exciting.
For instance, will they give the results all at once or do we have toe wait like an half hour for they come up with the results. In other words, when do you think I should get out of bed.
(and by the way westcoast doesn't matter, cause CA, WA and OR are Kerry country)

P.S.: I will be watching it on CNN international, and BBC world

14. Nah. We'll know. Most presidential relections are usually landslides
that break decisively for or against the incumbent. It is a referendum on the leader they know. All indications are that -- providing we mobilize our vote and they're no last minute surprises -- Kerry will win this going away.
