A question about write-in candidates
Okay, so here's the deal.
I was with a group of friends (in Orlando) yesterday doing to vote. One of them mentioned that there was one candidate (for tax collector) who was running unopposed. Since this person would obviously win, my friend decided he was going to write his name in opposing the candidate.

His rationale: since every write in vote has to be recorded, he intended to go back after the election to see that his ballot was indeed counted. By the time we got to the polling station, I decided to do the same.

My question: Is the Board of Elections required to tabulate and report every write-in somewhere? On their website results page perhaps.

Now I am wondering....

2. I doubt.....it is a state issue....BUT
in all fairness there must be a bunch or Donald Ducks and Mickey Mouses. It would be a waste of time and resources.

5. If it is can this be a way to create a paper trail? Every ballot in
America has at least one race which

1) is going to be won by somebody running unopposed
2) is largely irrelevent
3) is going to be won by a huge margin by one of the candidates.

For example, my ballot is going to contain a city councilman running unopposed. If every write-in is counted, anyone who wants to make sure their vote counts can write in their own name for that slot, right? I see no reason why this won't work unless evotes are counted seperately from write-ins.
