I thought DU was an army of outraged Democrats. Now I am not so sure.
While most people talk about stolen Kerry signs and the latest polls, a small group of us have unearthed an enormous amount of evidence that directly links George Bush to fundraising scams that target our seniors, our veterans, and others.

Let me repeat this - We have documented evidence that George Bush is tied to fundraising scams - and a whole lot more:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1108892#1129306

Yes, it's a huge amount of data and evidence - but the vast right wing conspiracy really is vast, just like Hillary said.

We need your help! We can destroy Bush, and start to take down this entire monster, and the proof is right before your eyes, if only you would bother to look

We have a letter from Laura Bush thanking a Nazi for a book.

We have organizations whose sole purpose is to operate turnkey scams for clients who belong to the CNP.

We have uncovered so much - but we need your help to get this on TV, in the newspapers, and on the radio.

PLEASE HELP!

1. Hey, Bozo!!!

(heh, not often I actually get to call someone that)... :P

I spent the morning calling and writing Feingold, Baldwin, Kohl and media outlets regarding several different issues, including the suppression of the CIA report about Sept 11.

Just because some of us like to whine (and in my case, cry) about stolen signs doesn't mean we aren't doing other things, as well!

AND, I'm putting in a 14-hour shift at the polls on November 2. What are you doing??? :hi:

2. Wonderful tactic
No one is going to respond at all if you get snippy that we haven't signed on to your crusade fast enough.

There are only 168 hours in a week, and the election is less than two weeks away.

If Bush is defeated, we can prosecute him and his cabal at our lesure. If he wins, we will have a larger, stronger case against him. It's not exactly win-win, but no way is he getting off easy.

36. The "evil queen" thing... hehe
Dubya has this "declared war" against what he perceives to be "evil," as if he's some sort of "knight in shining armor" (or religious crusader?) out to save the world, while he's actually destroying it. Someone over at the Agonist referred to this as the "Church of the Big 180," which I think is hilarious, but fitting. Politically and ideologically, I stand in sharp contrast to Bush's politics and his policies, I'm a disabled veteran against the war, I believe in telling the truth, I understand in a very real sense what the old concept of "honor" means (Celtic and Asian conceptions of "honor" are very similar), so it only seemed fitting to associate myself with "evil" since my ideologies are the reverse of the Bush administration. I guess if speaking out against what you think is wrong is evil, then I definitely fit the moniker of "the evil queen" of politics.

29. Girl Gone Mad, a lot more at stake than simply this election.
Edited on Thu Oct-21-04 08:45 PM by Bozos for Bush
I want Kerry to win just as bad as anyone, but there is a lot more at stake in 12 days than just the presidency.

IMO right now, America is a fascist nation. Now, most people don't know this yet, otherwise there would be a huge outpour against Bush, and as long as "they" continue to fool most of the people all of the time, "we" will never turn things around.

I am the first to admit - I was lazy and asleep. For years I have bashed Repubs on AOL and other places, and for years and years I have hated Bush, but I was asleep...I had no idea there were hundreds and hundreds of these neo-con fascist crooks.

I am wide awake now, and trying to make up for lost time I suppose...but I do believe we can not only beat Bush, we can destroy this monster that Hillary spoke often about.

We appreciate any help you can give :)

John

12. I sent your evidence to various news outlets
and reporters. Haven't heard anything back yet. I've tried to get some activism (directly related to GOTV campaigns in swing states) going here on DU too, but I haven't had one volunteer for the action yet! Apparently, posting about our outrage is more important than doing something about it. Liberals have always been reluctant to take action. Hell, I haven't seen a single person delivering Kerry literature in my swing state neighborhood, so I've been doing it myself. If we lose this election, we only have ourselves to blame. The truth is on our side, after all.

40. Lucky You
I just got some Lit to carry the past few weeks. Mostly I've had to print flyers from the Activism section at my own expense and tape them to doors and cars. It is satisfying to do something, but I haven't seen any evidence of others doing anything but put out lawn signs.

Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires some of the same courage that a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men and women to win them: Ralph Waldo Emerson

Some things you must always be unable to bear. Some things you must never stop refusing to bear. Injustice and outrage and dishonor and shame. No matter how young you are or how old you have got. Not for kudos and not for cash, your picture in the paper nor money in the bank, neither. Just refuse to bear them: William Faulkner

We must be prepared to make heroic sacrifices for the cause of peace that we make ungrudgingly for the cause of war: Albert Einstein

13. Here is what would help your cause.
Edited on Thu Oct-21-04 03:37 PM by crispini
Instead of a link to a long, messy thread of research, you need someone to write it up into a concise story.

Then, instead of just sending out a general call for "heeeeeelp!" you need to be EXTREMELY SPECIFIC. You need to say, Hey, everybody, here is what I found. I need you to send an email along these lines: (description follows) to these journalists: (links follow).

That way you will get more help and more converts to your cause. Volunteers do NOT respond to generic requests for HELP ME. Volunteers respond to, "I need somebody to do X by Y date." In other words, "I need somebody to put up a website." Volunteers also need to be told WHY. I'm sorry, but if you link to a convoluted bag of research, I'm too busy to sit down and plow through the whole thing to determine whether or not my participation has value. You need to hit the high points and tell me the intriguing part of your story and then I will determine whether or not I want to contribute my time.

And, as for ME, internet reseach just ain't my bag. I phonebank and canvass 2 or 3 hours a day in addition to my day job. If there is an internet action to participate in, I'll do so, if it's SHORT and CONCISE and takes less than five minutes.

But I come on DU largely to relax and chat. That is why I enjoy sign stealing threads, anecdotes about converting republicans, and rally stories.

Just my two cents.

Edited to add: OK, you DO summarize (quite well) up top of your post..... I guess I just don't get the link between 1,2,and 3 of your points. And I guess I still don't see anything that is going to make a horrendous amount of diff. between now and the election. At this point it would take a naked boy in a bed.

17. that was my reaction too: what's he want us to do? he hasn't said.
then I DID go to the thread he linked to and spent a half hour trying to make sense of a lot of raw research...and reoccurring names...that led all over the place. Some material, as the thread progressed, was reposted.

So I did what Bozo asked here--and if he wasn't being snippy, he certainly was tart--and I still couldn't tell what I was looking at. And I can't see how sending all that raw research to a newsperson, without some kind of overview, or precis, is going to get it looked at. You have to tell people what they are looking at.

Tomorrow night I can stay up all night, and I promise I'll organize it all in a new thread.

Friday night, I will work all night if I have to (just like last Friday lol) and summarize everything into a new thread. I agree completely with your comments, which is why I summarized the main points in the current thread.

As you can see, there has been a ton of new information since that summary, for example other CNP members engaged in fund raising scams. It's all there, and it's solid.

Bear with me until tomorrow night please - I do work 9-10 hours a day, so until the weekend comes, I can only do small stuff.

Great job with the canvassing, btw!

19. How do you think Woodward and Bernstein investigated Watergate?
They didn't have the internet... but they did have libraries and michofiche of various newspapers, insider documents, and informants.

This is different in that we DO have the internet to use as a tool of investigation. It allows us to gather bits and pieces that have appeared in other sources including news, government reports, financial statements from corporations, etc. In a sense, our job is made somewhat easier than Woodward and Bernstein's was... in another sense, because there is just so MUCH information to sort through, it becomes more difficult.

The "internet investigation" -- the meme being that it must be worthless if it came from the internet -- is belied by the fact that many of the references come from mainstream media, and presumably, they do have some credibility (though I might argue otherwise at times). You cannot expect to find Moony or Bush or corrupt crime families out here spelling it out in one document for someone to somehow "find" on the internet. But the bits and pieces we can find do add up to something that, personally, I think is much much bigger than the Watergate scandal was.

20. SHARE YOUR RESEARCH
...with the MEDIA. Send it to Franken, The Nation, SALON, whomever you happen to like. Email, cut and paste--takes five seconds.

This isn't about credit, it's about getting the word out. You have done the hard work aggregating the information, now consolidate it and send it to those who can do something about it on the national stage. Get the word out!!!

You are the best one to do this, because you have done the bulk of the labor and have read the documents in detail. You can assist reporters by pointing them to the salient features of that which you have uncovered.

We can jawbone (to use a weewee phrase) amongst ourselves and the already converted all day, grassroots is an important part of getting information out there, but PUBLICATION IS POWER. Things need to be fact-checked, and time is running short--so do not delay, send those emails out today!

They just aren't the same thing. I've looked at that thread and it seems like more speculation than evidence.

Did you contact the elder abuse people yet? That one letter with a request for money is enough to get them in action. This is like chipping away at an iceberg, you just have to keep at it from every angle and every little chip counts. And know we're probably never going to see what's under the surface anyway.

We know who belongs to the CNP.
We know members who operate supposed charities.
We know how they operate them, and who they use to do it.
We have linked all the scammers directly to Bush.
We have linked them to the producer of Stolen Honor.
We have linked them to Paula Jones.
We have a lot of hard evidence.

Most of us keep chipping away uncovering more.

I am canvassing full time every day right now. By the time I get home I can hardly see straight I am so tired. I have read through a few posts on this a few days ago, but right now I can't do much more than I am doing. I have also been emailing a lot about Sinclair and trying to keep up with that. I do think what you have is big, I just can only do so much. I am driving people to the polls for 12 hours on election day.

I hope other DUers will jump on this. Like I said, I can only do so much, though I would like to do it all. Anything to get rid of that son of a bitch.
