Unbelievable. GMA - Diane Sawyer - Both Lockhart and Matlin are willing
to move to other issues but she INSISTS on continuing to go on and on about THK.

As usual, the media is just disgusting.

1. True.
The media is disgusting. Also true, THK's remark was a gaffe. This is the big leagues, and errors like this shouldn't happen. THK should know better than to say anything about LB that can be interpreted as a knock. And she should have remembered that LB was a librarian/teacher. God knows, it's been broadcast far and wide.

3. She said she was sorry.
But I guess not remembering Laura was a librarian is far more important to the country than Bush telling Robertson that there would be no casualties in the Iraq war. :eyes:

4. Bull
Read what THK said. Absolutely zilch wrong with it. Anyone who says there is is just promoting RNC spin.

9. Excuse me for being blunt
but that's just bullshit. We can't afford distractions. The media is all over this. If you can't see that, you're being wilfully obtuse. And saying this was a tactical error doesn't make me a promoter of rw spin.

10. And if it wasn't that...
The RW media would've dug something else trivial up to change the subject. You're a FOOL if you think this is anything more than their admission that they've got nothing.

24. The right wing shows characteristics of Fascism every day
and this is no joking matter. They can take the slightest little flaw from someone else and, since they own the media, they can swarm all over it; and do it to use as a cover up. Bush's lies go on and on, and the mean and disgusting things they've said about THK is just unbelievable.

19. I was waiting for the
"oh, they'll just dig up something else up". Maybe, maybe not. The point is you don't hand ammunition to your enemies this late in the game. Period. And if you don't think that's what all the dem strategists are saying privately this morning, you would be, well, wrong. At this point in the game, close as it is, expect both sides to play gotcha any time that they can.

5. As Lockhard said, GOP rubbed their hands in glee cause it's all they got!
They can't talk about Dubya's record and they really do not want to talk about the issues that concern America--like Bush's failures in Iraq and his plan to privatize Social Security-- taxpayer financed, trillion dollar giveaway to Wall Street--like his Rx drug plan $139+ billion giveaway to drug companies.

The GOP has buffaloed many in the flyover states. It's time they wake up!

8. Bush campaign does NOT accept THK apology and then they (Faux)
showed the evil Karen Hughes saying how it denigrates the job of motherhood.

I'm a friggin mother and nobody pays me for it. It isn't a job. It is "hard work" but it isn't a job, a@#holes.

18. If the Bush people (Karen Harris) want to push the issue then
lets see some Social Security Credits applied to stay at home moms toward their eventual "retirement" checks. Lets see them put the money where their mouth is! I was a stay at home mom for years and I earned NOTHING toward my social security benefits for my future. Plain and simple, want to play that card, then put your money on the table!!!

And while we are at it, add some extra for the mothers that home school, because they are doing the job of a teacher. Add some money for caregivers of elderly parents, they are doing the job of a nurse. Add some money for mothers that care for disabled children, they are doing the job of a therapist (occupational AND physical in some cases).

Motherhood is the toughest "job" I have ever had, and never have I had a job with so much riding on the outcome. Reward me for that with some credit to my social security and you can play this card all you want. Until then, take O'Reilys advice and SHUT UP media whores!

21. 'denigrates the job of motherhood'
NOT if you actually READ the entire statement...

Idiots.

THK said that Laura had contributed in other, meaningful but different ways. HOW DOES THAT DENIGRATE MOTHERHOOD?

Answer: it doesn't, but the media will pull sh!t out of context for their own profit, doing the job of the Bush campaign

7. THK happens tobe a classy woman who does not feel diminished by
admitting a mistake (remember, the mark of a leader is being able to recognize mistakes?) or apologizing for an erroneous remark.

MORE POWER TO YOU TERESA H KERRY!

What if Kerry said--What a wonderful wife I have. Unlike the the president, when she makes a mistake, she admits it, apologizes. Of course, that's because she is an adult--?

12. i think this is an example of what Jon Stewart was talking about
the media take these little things and through distortion try to make it into news when it isn't. but on issues that matter dealing with public policy they don't hold politicians accountable.

disagrees with that in any way and the Repubs are just trying to distract attention from the issues. Then he would go into the long list of Bush Admin. failures which she would interrupt and say he didn't answer the question about THK.

Mary Matlin didn't even push the issue. She said Teresa is a feisty woman that she would like to have a martini with but Sawyer used the entire segment trying to get them to talk about THK.

Bushies are really pushing this line that her apology was an insult to moms because she didn't include that as a "job".

I feel sorry for any kid who has a Mom that considers motherhood a "JOB" - maybe this should be our mantra on this topic when they bring the subject up?

And dianne fucking sawyer is married to Mike Nichols who directed "Angels In America"..that must be one of those matlin/carville marriages.

I've been in a fowl mood all day. When Lockhart tried to talk about a real issue - JOBS - she said, "But you're not answering my question. Why didn't Teresa say that being a mother is a job?"

BECAUSE DIANE, Karen Hughes FORGOT to tell her to say that!

Dumb bitches.

(on edit: I'm so pissed, I even used the word "bitch" in this post!)

... a Rovian distraction.

C'mon, people, enjoy this. Imagine for a moment that THK intentionally let "slip" the "not a real job" remark, with the intent of immediately correcting herself and profusely apologizing.

Kerry & Co. know that the RW can't help but pile on and look stupid whenever it comes to THK. the RW are as misogynistic, ugly and clueless today as they were, well, back when they used to pile on Hillary.

Their attacks on Hillary always backfired, and their attacks on THK will as well.

Relax. Enjoy. They're fucked.
