The Un-American Sinclair
By John Cory
t r u t h o u t | Perspective

Wednesday 20 October 2004

The Sinclair Broadcasting Group is trying to influence a presidential election by airing a scurrilous smear against John Kerry.

It's that simple.

I don't really give a damn how they dress it up, it's about corporate influence and greed, intended to override a public election. They can dress George Bush in a flight suit, but that doesn't make him a warrior pilot - just the toy soldier of corporate political corruption.

No film is going to change the deadly lie of Vietnam. It was never a "good war," and forty years later it cannot be re-written into an extension of the glory days of WWII.

Sinclair has taken it upon itself to act as the state-run media and present the party line of its political benefactor, the Bush GOP. Like the former Soviet news agency, or Iraq's previous state-owned media, Sinclair has pre-determined the issue and the truth for broadcast. And if that doesn't send a chill down your spine, nothing will.

The American media should be exposing this chicanery, but instead chooses silence. Silence was never an American principle of freedom, and it certainly was not what those of us who served our country fought and died for - at least according to those who sent us.

1. Great article!
Once this deceiving, lying, nasty, disgusting, repulsive, nauseating thing has been aired...

...will it consume the news?

...will it be the buzz of all weekend talk shows?

...what are the chances of it backfiring on Sinclair?

2. I hope it backfires "big time." We know how Fox will use it
but the whores at Cesspool News Network will play it for all it is worth to the advantage of the Shrub. I wish I could fashion an award for the Whoriest Network and give it to them--on air. They have no right to say they are a news network--much less "the most trusted news." I stopped watching them.

3. SINclair..
Thanks for the response asjr..

I guess I'll never hear what they say on Faux.. except through the DU grapevine from those hear who have the stomach to stop in there! :7

This thing has REALLY been knawing at me... It bothers me how little coverage the upcoming smear-fest is being discussed in the news. But by the same token, I just have a feeling it will be NON-STOP news afterwards.

The one thing that gives me some comfort in this whole deal, is that I'm 100% confident that our side is preparing for the all out attack afterwards.

You know that they're not sitting idle on this. I just hope the response is so forceful and devistating to SINclair that it backfires them into obliviation!
