Heard on NPR that Sinclair is backing off it's original dictate.
The story said that Sinclair was under pressure from it's stock holders and has backed down from it's original mandate that all their stations show 'stolen honor'. They said a 'small but vocal group' (could that be DU ?) had caused them to back off. Anyone else hear this???

2. We're making too big a deal of Sinclair "backing down"

They did no such thing. I posted here from the earliest days of this b.s. that Smith had left himself a huge out by saying the show "was not even taped or scripted" yet, and that they had no idea what it would finally look like. He really has said this from day one. Or maybe day two, when he started catching flak. Either way, they stuck their finger in the wind and saw it was a cold, raw, N'oreaster a blowin' and decided to punt...claim they never said they were going to air "Stolen Honor," which is techically correct. HOWEVER, now they will get TONS of pr for the "new" version of their hatchet piece as everyone tunes in too see just what they wind up doing. It is actually a great PR ploy...or WOULD BE if they hadn't lost $90mil in the process.

My guess is, advertisers will be pissed. Probably more at US than Sinclair...they had to devote tons of man-hours to answering/reading our hate-mail, responding to boycotts and threats...and it turns out to be no biggie. Yeah, sure. I just have a bad feeling about his whole episode. Anyone seen Hudsucker Proxy? Watch for the Smith family to be scarfing up boatloads of their now seriously cheap stock...more killer profits for them.
