I think it's telling that the blog on Kerry's site and all the liberal blogs have places for comments...but none of the conservative ones do. The offical * blog has "send to friends" and "sign up!" links at the end of each entry intead of a comments link. Hmm...

People really need to see this movie. It moves you without being blatant about wanting to move you. Not many filmmakers are capable of doing this. It also gives me a whole new perspective on John Kerry. I liked him before but now I really respect him and what he did after he came back from Vietnam. I also liked how it really wasn't all about him but rather about a movement that so many took a part in.

It showed that Kerry is a serious and thoughtful man. It also showed that John O'Neill is just a shill for right-wing forces, and a liar.

The film did make me sad in one way: I think it shows that nothing has really changed in 30 years. The powers that be are fully entrenched.

We are more "rapid response" because of Kerry and the Vietnam War.

Were people this up in arms after 1000 died in Vietnam? Were people this careful to say that they support the troops even though they don't support the war?

In three years, it's as if we've lived several years in the Sixties, encapsulated. I can see bits of Johnson, Nixon, the 1968 DNC, and many other things all happening in the space of months. It's weird how intense it all is.

I was so moved by the film. It brings back so many painful emotions. And now, 35 years later, so much has changed, and so much stays the same. Kerry's words were eloquent then, more people need to hear them now.

from crying.

I was 18 in 1969, so you know what generation I am.

I had to pause the film several times because of tears. Perhaps it was cathartic, after all these years.
