So I'm depressed - Sinclair is going to get away with this aren't they?
and I feel so hopeless because I'm not in a sinclair market where I feel I can make a better difference.

Why do I see 1984 happening in about 3 months?

I need a

1. Chin up.
It'll backfire or it won't make one damn bit of difference.

Just like DUers are the most likely to see the pro-Kerry film.

6. The problem is not their crank show
it is all the free media the whores will give it by reporting on the "controversy".

7. We have NOT done all we can do !
We need to fight back on the substance.

We need everyone to push back--and that means you, too. Write to every paper and tv station (including but not only the Sinclair captives) and tell them that Stolen Honor is a piece of trash. John Kerry was a hero in Nam and a hero when he spoke out against the war on his return.

The idea that his anti-war activism was opportunistic is laughable.
Rather than a betrayal, it was an act of courageous loyalty to his brothers in arms.

5. Stop sniveling!
Yes, Sinclair is going to run that piece of s*** but it's not going to stop us from winning this election.

This is warmed over SBVT slime: it's not going to win over any new converts for Bush. In fact, it will probably push people our way: folks are on to the fact that Bush uses smear to distract from his own failures.

8. Sinclair's stations in Ohio are in Columbus and Cincinnati,
which are largely Republican. I think they'll be largely preaching to the choir in those markets. And, with the Skank Boat Vets' credibiity being what it is, who's to say it won't backfire?

Even after the program is aired, keep hammering Sinclair.

10. I think you are right. I find it scary.
I have more and more seen that the corporations, including the media, do not have to answer to the people anymore. They just don't care, and there are no punitive measures for them anymore.

Plus they have an almost captive audience.

Heck, I'm going to force myself to watch it. I've seen promos of it and I already know exactly what this thing will be talking about. Propaganda interests me, alot. I am very interested how folks can buy into this stuff when it contradicts reality.

I think we can take pride in making advertisers think.

This is just a blip. I'm ready to celebrate Kerry's and the Senate win.

At this momemt, I'm optimistic. I spent most of the day scared to death. So a  and we just have to GOTV.

17. I heard back from U.S. Cellular and they are taking a baby step.
I wrote over 3 dozen emails Thursday, and have heard back from 6 companies saying they "will look into it" pass on my concerns. But the most definitive letter was from U.S. Cellular. I didn't mention the name of the film, "Stolen Honor" but they refer to it in their reply which means they are aware of the controversey.

The letter:

Thank you for your message. As a non-partisan corporation, U.S. Cellular does not take a position in the presidential race. We have no plans to cancel our advertising on Sinclair Broadcasting affiliates.

However, we believe the program "Stolen Honor" does not provide an optimal environment for our advertising. Therefore, we have instructed Sinclair affiliates not to run U.S. Cellular commercial spots within two hours of the program's airing.

Sincerely,

Liz C.

My son who lives in NV. wasn't going to vote. He didn't like either candidate. But the mess with voter registration out there pissed him off and he is now going to vote and vote for Kerry. :bounce:

24. Don't worry- Sinclair/Swiftliars partisan RW propagands has been outed
Finally, they have been exposed nationwide for their flagrant pro-Bush agenda- this is very important in defusing any impact the story will have. All of the TV media has covered what's going on and that so far Sinclair is not giving Kerry an opportunity for equal time. There will be lots of anti-Sinclair/Swiftliars letters to the editor in areas where the film is being aired.

25. Hey...come on!
 Ok, there's your hug.

Now listen to me! Don't get discouraged. I was reading a posting on dKos, and someone talked with one of the station managers. The stations themselves don't want to air the "movie." The station manager said Sinclair wasn't suspecting such a response, and they are starting to waiver. They only offered Kerry equal time to silence the outrage to protect their advertisers! Their advertisers are getting pissed!

Keep up the work, people! The advertisers can't take another week of this! Spread the word to everyone you know, and I mean EVERYONE!! We haven't even hit our stride with this yet! In less than a week, over 50 advertisers have caved, and more will cave in the next few days!

Go, my fellow DUers, the fight has not yet begun!!!!

26. Sinclair = what credibility does it have?
Its owner is condemned by journalists for his cultish pro-Moonie documentary.

Another executive is arrested for soliciting prostitutes.

Still another is investigated for refusing to sell housing to Blacks.

Cultism, prostitution, racism, and reich wingism = that's what Sinclair is all about. Who is going to believe that load of crap?

Sinclair = :puke:

27. What do you mean you can't make a difference?
They have Arby's, Pepsi products, Quaker, Lays and the whole list of other products where you live don't they? Just don't buy them, now or for years.

You'll be helping every time you take a bite or drink. They don't know what they're fooling with. I told them in my letters, my family would actually carry the list on their person.
