8 Toss Up States, May Decide This Election. AP Newswire
Their strategies focused heavily — but not exclusively — on essentially tied races in Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire and New Mexico.

National polls suggest the race is tight, but a vast majority of the states are overwhelmingly supporting one candidate over the other — leaving a handful to determine who wins the White House.

Taken together, Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania account for 68 of the 99 votes from these tossup states. They form a triangle of influence unmatched on the political map.

"Whoever wins two of those three wins the White House — and I hope to God it's my guy," said Democratic consultant Greg Haas of Columbus, Ohio.

1. I'm concerned about Wisconsin, Iowa.
Bush can't steal those states.

6. Bush is giving up on PA
There've been s couple of stories on that in the last couple of days. That means Kerry has to pick up Ohio or Florida.

22. Ramsey read a list of where Bush is focusing his campaign money
and it seems Harrisburg area is the only place where Bush is big spending money in Pennsylvania.

But what hurts him in the Harrisburg area is they have a real asshole running for US Representative against incumbant Tim Holden. Repukes thought that Scott Paterno, son of Penn State U. Legendary football coach (and close bush friend) Joe Paterno, would ride the wave of popularity on his father's name.

Right now Scott is about 20 points behind in a district that is technically republican leaning. So that has to hurt against Bush in the election because folks like my parents, who live in that area and are republican leaning at times, are actually voting for Holden and also considering Kerry

5. WV isn't as crucial, as we didn't win it in '00.
We need to keep WI blue.

7. I have it down to five states.
Colorado
Florida
Iowa
Ohio
Wisconsin

The others will fall back into their normal voting patterns, with the exception of New Hampshire, which will flip for Kerry.

16. Good news.
Latest polls show salazar over beerboi by 11 points. If Kerry grabs Salazar's coattails, rest ensured Colorado goes blue for Kerry.

29. My daughter works for
the Coloradoan in Ft. Collins. She told me earlier today she covered a rally hosted for Salizar by Robert Redford, in Old Town Square. From what she told me, there were many there and she feels Salizar is going to win. She also told me Kerry and dumbass are neck 'n neck in Colorado...who'd a thunk it! :bounce:

21. NH
It was the Nader impact that gave NH to Bush last time. Fewer Nader votes in NH this time, I suspect. I predict NH will go Blue.

8. Incorrect about 2 out of three, unfortunately
Winning (very likely) NH,PA and adding just OH will not win it for Kerry if he loses all the others in this article (FL, NV, NM, WI, IA). Comes to 262, I believe

10. Right
I think we'll get NM though. But I think we still need WI and maybe IA too. WI, OH, PA, I think those are where to look.

11. the hysterical thing about all these battleground articles
is that this is all very, very bad news for any incumbent. There is little doubt that the challenger will pick up the greater proportion of undecideds so any "even" state will go to the challenger. Add in the ground war advantage, and the motivation advantage, and the systemic underreporting of DEMS in all polling and it is MORE LIKELY THAN NOT that Kerry will realistically win all of these eight states... if we continue to work hard and get out the vote on election day!

12. We'd best do that today and tomorrow then, because
people are voting absentee now, and most states begin early voting the day after tomorrow!

Tennessee has been voting since last Wednesday.

undecideds.

voters - those without a land line. A lot of young people there. As stated previously - they are not 'pollable'.

I hope. I hope. I hope the young will come through with a Dem vote. But, I was surprised at the number of Bush supporters hugging the rope line when Tweety was doing his AZ Univ thing. How many college age voters are Republican? Is that the question?

Wait! There's another question - how many young voters will have a problem free vote?

17. I heard on CNN this morning that the Chimp is getting nervous
he actually went back into the press cabin on AF1, only the third time that the Boy King has done that since he was (s)elected.

How are things trending, anyway? did winning all four debates help KE2004 in a real way?

23. I just looked at a polling site on the internet that put Missouri in the
pink rather than red. The person who spoke at our meeting today
seemed to think we were within 4 points in Missouri and closing.
I have been phone banking all day. You may think I am nuts but I think we can do it.
