Just Returned From Kerry Rally in Appleton, WI
and it was fantastic! My guess is nearly 10,000 people turned out to see John Kerry, Governor Doyle and Senator Kohl in Appleton, Wisconsin, a conservative, mainly Republican area. It was cold and it was raining but the crowds were awesome! I'm anxious to hear the total numbers.

Kerry was fantastic! Speaking to the cold, wet crowd in loud and
clear statements and we were pumped!

A few Bush/Cheney spoilers across the street shouting "Four More Years" to which we all answered "Three More Weeks". The rallying cry was 3-4-3, which meant Kerry's sweep of the debates.

Wow. Can't believe the turnout on a Friday night football night yet.

I think we are all going to be pleasantly surprised on election night when Wisconsin goes to Kerry.

1. Was there information about getting out the vote as
part of the evening?

6. Hmmm . . .not really - there were many people seeking
volunteers. The volunteers in this area are working tirelessly to get the vote out already. Judging by the numbers of young people at the rally tonight, I think the message has been received loud and clear.

When asking for volunteers, they asked "Can you give us four hours or do you want four more years?" Great line.

3. Cheeseheads for Kerry
My mother in law lives in Beloit. She's a hardcore dem. Saw Kerry in Beloit a couple months ago.

4. sounds like milwaukee will be a problem though
per krugman today, the GOP SecState is going to deliberately send an insufficient number of ballots to Milwaukee. That will make it tough to Kerry WI.

7. Not the Sec of State ...
Edited on Fri Oct-15-04 10:42 PM by MadAsHell
The Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker is trying to short change the city of Milwaukee on ballots. The Gov has already calling the State Elections Board in to review the ballot distributions in the whole county.

8. I was there, too
Awesome overflow crowd that covered the age spectrum from small children to the aged and infirm. The venue was much too small for the number of supporters that showed up to show support. This has indeed been a strong Republican area, but the crowd was awesome despite the late-evening timing (Kerry arrived about 8:45PM), the Friday factor and the crappy weather.

Kerry was lighthearted, chiding us about our love of brats, cheese and beer while he was here to talk about health care. That got a big laugh.

The balance of the speech was familiar, but presented with gusto even though it was the fourth stop of the day.

I'm tired but exhilarated!

9. Need advice from WIsconsonites
I'm new in the state. I want to make the biggest impact I can in the last few days before the election. I think I can do the most good by going to Madison and trying to pick off Nader supporters.

Please take a look at my post:

I'd love to get some advice.

Thanks.
