For those who haven't been following this, it has now become clear that the Republicans in New Hampshire paid someone to jam the phone lines at Democratic Headquarters on election day in 2002, thereby interfering with GOTV activities. The Republican margin of victory was so small in the U.S. Senate race that this underhanded, and plainly illegal, tactic could have affected the outcome of the election. This is the clearest example of out-and-out election theft we've since since, well, since Florida in 2000.
It turns out that the head of Bush's New England campaign (who resigned today) has been implicated in this scandal. The sh*t has hit the fan, and heads are beginning to roll.
But can anyone in NH tell me how much coverage this is getting locally? Is it possible that this coverage will lead to an anti-Republican backlash that could help move NH into Kerry's column on election day?
